Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish that other bloggers are welcome to join in, to create Top Ten lists on varying topics. This week it’s Top Ten Things Books Have Made Me Want To Do or Learn About After Reading Them
1 Take up Archery
Ah! you were expecting The Hunger Games for this? Well Sorry Katniss, Daine had me sold on the archery front well before you did. Not only would I like to learn how to properly use a bow and arrows, I’d like to also like to learn how to make them. Then I’ll never have to fear a zombie apocalypse/getting stranded anywhere dangerous/without food.
2 Learn to Track
To be able to move silently and to see things in what others see as nothing is something I find so fascinating. It’s a skill almost lost to humans now as we cut down more and more trees and build our residences closer and closer together. Another survival skill, but really I’d just love to be able to sneak up on people, or find people or something.
3 Learn to Pick Locks
When will I ever need this? Well, never say never. It’s a just in-case-skill. But it would be totally fun to know it, aside from it’s practicality. I’m a terribly polite person however, so I’d only be using this skill to get myself or others out of places…a fantastic espionage skill.
4 Gain a greater understanding of ‘nature’
I didn’t really know how to phrase this.I’d like to understand the moon and the plants around us and how they affect each other as well as us. Basically, all things ‘witchy’. Having recently searched for anti-bacterial essential oils, I’ve discovered a whole wealth of information that is forgotten or hidden and ignored, perhaps because the drug companies wont make money from it and that’s just horrifying.
5 Visit Chesapeake Bay
I really want to go to Louisiana, but Ms4Tune beat me to it! (And I’m not sure if I want to because of a book) But this series by Nora Roberts has added Chesapeake to my places-to-visit list.
I’m not the most active person but when I read Wild and The End of the World Running Club I had the biggest urge to just get up and walk. No idea where to but just walk, till I figure out what to do with my life. Seems like such a release.
I’d love to get a tattoo that linked me to another person. There’s no way my mum or dad would ever get tattoos but perhaps if my children wanted one I would get one too. I loved that the Dad in No Where But Here got a star each year, coloured in for when he saw his daughter and just outlined for when he didn’t. Such a beautiful idea.
I don’t want to actually kill anyone off but I like the idea of planning a murder mystery night. Could be fun, especially if it’s themed! Has anyone had or gone to one of these?
I didn’t really enjoy History at school but every now and then I read a book with so many interesting historical references that I just have to go and research more. These two were the most recent books that had me straight onto Google. My brain is now full of facts about the Chinese Cultural Revolution and Vlad the Impaler!
Anywhere in Louisiana but most particularly New Orleans. New Orleans historically or modern day sounds amazing. I want to visit, soak up all the music and culture and basically just eat lots of local cuisine.
