pamsumitup

Sum it up Sunday is a feature post we are going to trial for the closing Sundays of each month. In these posts we’ll detail various things that have excited or upset us over that month.
If you’d like to join us in our summing up, please feel free! Just please, provide a link back to our blog. Thank you.

What are you reading right now?

Paein: Pottermore Presents: Short Stories from Hogwarts of Power, Politics and Pesky Poltergeists
By J.K.Rowling
which is apparently number 2 but oh well.

Ms4Tune: Crooked Kingdom
by Leigh Bardugo
(So Excited!!!)

What was your favourite book this month?

Paein: City of Glass by Cassandra Clare. I haven’t read much but this was definitely my favourite!

city of glass

Ms4Tune: Hands down – It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover – because it was emotional, bewitching and so brutally honest.

What was your least favourite book this month?

Paein: Cinderella is Evil by Jamie Campbell. So no what what it said on the tin

cinderella is evil

Ms4Tune: Ugh, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie – I hate this book. If I had to hear that Jean Brodie was in the prime of her life one more time!

What do you want to read next?

Paein: Oh man, I want to read City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare, but I also don’t… I also want to read Dear Killer by Katherine Ewell as it’s October but I also want to read Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo but now that her Crooked Kingdom is out I could read Six of Crows…Or I might have to keep up with the short e-books to keep up!

city of heavenly fire dear killer shadow and bone six of crows

Ms4Tune: I’m not really sure, maybe Fated by Sarah Fine, or Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins but I may read something completely different.

fated The girl on the train

What books are you hoping to collect next month?

Paein: Special Edition of Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare, an Illustrated copy of Harry Potter #2 and Frost like Night by Sara Raasch (don’t know why this isn’t here yet to be honest!)

Ms4Tune: The Queen of Blood by Sarah Beth Durst

How are your challenges going?

Paein: bwahaha! moving on…

Ms4Tune: I don’t really feel I’ve made any progress this month. It’s been a pretty poor month.

Anything you’re going to try and do more of next month?

Paein:
Actual stuff, like challenges…
I’ve piled up some of the Pop Sugar Challenge books so I need to read them
I want to read some spooky/horror type books this month
More books off my Netgalley list
Buy nothing!

Ms4Tune: Again:
1. Finish 3 Netgalley books.
2. Continue my Popsugar Challenge (I won’t aim for a number it will only go wrong)
3. Finish another Series
4. Finish a few books towards my A-Z Authors Challenge.

Did you complete this month’s targets?

Paein: Er, working on the sleep, cause I’m really trying to to sucumb to the ill that is doging me..As for Instagram…I thouht I was doing pretty well, but I’ve only got an 18 day run going so far…
Didn’t get as much read on holiday as I thought, but all the reviews are up and I’m so pleased I had them because I’ve only read 4 books this month…3 of which were itty bitty…
No book box books and no pop sugar books…though I can cross one of for last month I read after I wrote last months Sum it!
I’ve done some serious work with my kindle clear out though, so that’s a good thing.

Ms4Tune: 1. Finished 2 Netgalley books which isn’t bad but hasn’t reduced the pile very much.
2. Only one from the Popsugar challenge – falling behind now
3. No series was completed this month
4. I did however read 3 books for my A-Z Authors Challenge so I’m doing ok there.

Any rants or raves?
Anything to boast about?

Paein: My candle obsession is in full swing again, now that I’ve discovered BOOK THEMED CANDLES!! And I may have got my hands on a  MerakiCandles November Myths and Legends box and I can’t wait!
I’m sure there should be more to put in here, but I’ve been struggling so much this month I’ve even failed in keeping up to date with my bullet journal…but I’ve got October organised already so here’s hoping I’m on the mend.

Ms4Tune: Crooked Kingdom’s is now in my possession and I can’t stop looking at the gorgeous cover! I can’t wait to get stuck back in! I was also so happy with this months Fairyloot box because it was all about Leigh Bardugo’s books and V E Schwab’s Darker Shade of Magic. And the book included sounds really good. I will post my Fairyloot Unboxing soon!
