Seventeen year old Karou lives a double life. Part time art student living in Prague and part time errand girl for a monstrous creature -the closest thing she has to family – can be tricky to balance, but she’s doing well, even if Brimstone won’t answer her questions, Why does he buy teeth? Why won’t he let her see through the other door? Why won’t he give her a bigger wish? Why does he wear a wishbone around his neck? How did he come to look after and rise her? A secret even to herself she spends her days plagued by the sensation she isn’t whole. But the doors to her elsewhere home are closing, could this have something to do with the young man who’s eyes burn like fire?

So, why not end an almost two month long reading drought and a week of pressure headaches with a bang? And what a bang!

(I need to get this off my chest so I can then go and find out: )
The heck is wrong with her at the end there?! Seriously! Did she expect his reaction to be sunshine and rainbows? This better not cause a giant book-long rift. It would disappoint me beyond measure. *shakes fist at book two*

Where was I?
I’ve owned this book a while, it’s been so well received by so many I wanted to wait for the last book before reading. I like to read them together. So, book 3 is now mine, but I’ve been nervous about reading them, because what if I don’t like them?! But finally I picked up the book.
I found it filled with such pretty imagery. I loved the way she writes, though I find I have very little to say here, now. Possibly because the story line is so beautifully simple, it’s impossible to say anything without giving it away. I don’t want to give it away. If you’ve read the book you’ll know what I mean. I hope to write a better review at the end of book 3, for the series.

There is sparkle in this story indeed.
