Ms4Tune recommended I try Jackaby and I really quite enjoyed it! I found it a nice easy read perfect for when I wasn’t feeling too well and I also enjoyed the sequel. I’m waiting for book 3 in paperback however so that I have a set so I’m yet to finish the series. It’s compared to Doctor Who and Sherlock and I can see why, though I did find it lacking the fantastic lines of Doctor Who, there are some but not nearly enough!!

Honestly, I’m still reading The Forgetting – I’m having trouble finishing actual books right now. I don’t know if it’s because I don’t want bad things to happen or what. But so far I’ve been really enjoying this book. I like the chemistry between the two main characters and any falling outs are over in reasonable time it’s shaping up to be a pretty good book! I’m hoping it will be a 2016 favourite. Turns out I have one of her other books on my shelf so I’ll need to read that one soon too.

3 Leigh Bardugo

I’ve also been reading Shadow and Bone a while too. I think it was because I stumbled across an accidental spoiler and then I didn’t know what to do with myself (so many fandoms to keep up with, it’s hard not to have something spoiled!). Up until then though I was enjoying the book. I chose to read this before six of crows because I’d had it longer – apparently that was a sensible choice! I really need to keep going because everyone is saying how good these series are!

4 Susan Dennard

I really enjoyed Truthwitch and thought that maybe this was a series to wait for completion so that it could be binge read. However I requested and received an excerpt of book 2. I have no idea what’s going on in it which leads me to believe this will be a series I have to re-read a lot. Oh dear, what a shame…I thought that Truthwitch had great depth and scope and I hope that it keeps going that way…

5 Jeff Wheeler

The Queen’s Poisoner was one of those 99p Kindle books that I got some time ago. I forget if I started to read it before or after I requested the third one from Netgalley but it was probably after (Will I ever learn?!?). It wasn’t quite what I was expecting. Something is going on here and it’s caught my attention that’s for sure! But this wasn’t the series I thought it would be.

6 Jenny Colgan

I know Jenny Colgan has been around for ages (mainly because my mum has quite a few of her books) but this year was the first time I’ve picked any of her books up. The Little Shop of Happy Ever After was a 5-star book for me. I loved it so much that I actually requested her next newest book, Christmas at the Little Beach Street Bakery because I just needed another fix. Her writing is so fluid and her storylines so funny in a real life kind of way. I’m glad I took a chance on The LIttle Shop of Happy Ever After. It’s not my genre usually, but it was so entertaining. Definitely worth a read if you want something humorous and romantic. Comparable to Jojo Moyes’s Contemporary stories.

7 Lyndsay Faye

OMG Lyndsay Faye’s reimagining of Jane Eyre was amazing. I definitely need more of her gothic romances in my life. Totally brilliant.

8 Jessica Spotwood

Now apparently I own Jessica Spotwood’s Born Wicked which is a paranormal fantasy but I’ve not read it… yet. I received Wild Swans as an ARC and was surprised by how much I loved this contemporary romance. The characters were believable and the storyline was really good. I can’t wait to get stuck into Born Wicked and see what Jessica has to offer us in the fantasy world!

9 Matthew Quick

Matthew Quick is another author I’ve heard lots about and already own a few books by, but again, I haven’t read them yet. I will definitely be reading them soon though, as Every Exquisite Thing was really moving. The characters were odd but in a way that made you want to know more about them and the storyline was different to anything I’ve read before.

10 Kiersten White

And I Darken is one of my favourite books of 2016 (it will be on my TTT Best Books of 2016 list too lol). I don’t know if I will enjoy her earlier work as much as apparently they are a lot simplier but I’m willing to give them a try anyway. And I can not wait for Now I Rise (out next year)!
