Throwback Thursday: The Coldest Girl in Coldtown

It’s that time of year guys when I read this book and I still love it!

I first read this in March 2014 and my original review can be found HERE.

I also previously had a throwback Thursday post featuring this book in July 2015 which can be found HERE.

I’ve been wanting to re-read this book for months now but I held out this long! I often find that when in a slump, reading a favourite is a good idea and as I’ve been in something of a slump it only seemed fit to read it now! (Also it actually ticks one of my challenge boxes so that’s a plus!)

For those of you living under a rock, here’s the blurb:

Tana lives in a world where walled cities called Coldtowns exist. In them, quarantined monsters and humans mingle in a decadently bloody mix of predator and prey. The only problem is, once you pass through Coldtown’s gates, you can never leave.

One morning, after a perfectly ordinary party, Tana wakes up surrounded by corpses. The only other survivors of this massacre are her exasperatingly endearing ex-boyfriend, infected and on the edge, and a mysterious boy burdened with a terrible secret. Shaken and determined, Tana enters a race against the clock to save the three of them the only way she knows how: by going straight to the wicked, opulent heart of Coldtown itself.

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown is a wholly original story of rage and revenge, of guilt and horror, and of love and loathing from bestselling and acclaimed author Holly Black.

So what is it that I like about this book? Well it’s got to be Tana’s kindness and Gavriel’s curiosity because it’s those things that make this story happen.
I also love the missions that they are on. Tana’s is a mission of preservation – and you could sort of argue that Gavriel’s is too…

I ended up reading most of this book on my kindle app even though I have to physical copies. I read books when stuck in traffic because it’s a good use of the time, but also it was good because I ended up highlighting lots more bits that I liked and that’s always useful for when you want to just go back and read the best bits. Also for when you notice things!

I have heard rumours of a possible sequel and I’m both excited AND terrified. What if the outcome I hoped for is not the one that happened?!?!

But what if it is??
