1 Damon and Elena – The Vampire Diaries

by L J Smith

I read the original books when I was in secondary school and then I’m pretty sure I was voting for Stefan and Elena (and now I can’t remember how it ended and I don’t have the books anymore), but in the TV show I am very much a Damon and Elena girl. I haven’t watched all of the series it’s true, I think only half of them, so I don’t know what’s happened since, but they are definitely my favourite. I don’t know if it’s Ian Somerhalder’s portrayal of Damon but he’s certainly coming across as a better person than Stefan for her, I just can’t go into details because, spoilers!.

2 Khalid and Shahrzad - The Wrath & the Dawn

by Renee Ahdieh

I had to include these guys on this list. Their relationship is what I want from my books. They fall in love however they do, then they work together and believe in each other until they’re at their HEA. There’s minimal if any (it’s been a while, I don’t remember. I cant say there’s NONE…) of the usual problems that plague fictional characters and I just found it refreshing.

3 Harry and Ginny – Harry Potter

by J K Rowling

This is the opposite. Ginny in the books is a far better match for Harry than Ginny in the films. She had little personality in them. Ginny in the books however was an impressive and powerful witch. And possessed a level of sarcasm and sass to rival book Harry for the rest of his life. Plus, she makes him laugh and he notices her. Someone once pointed out, the books are from Harry’s point of view, so pay attention to descriptions. It’ll let you know who he’s paying attention to most.

4 Elizabeth Bennett and Mr Darcy – Pride and Prejudice

by Jane Austen

I’m only now reading the book, I’ve been a little scared to for ages even though I love the films! (which I only watched to see what the hype was about…. So far so good! I was surprised how early on the the book he starts to like her though! Page 24! I oddly like how they get each other so wrong and yet start falling in love anyway.

5 Alec Lightwood and Magnus Bane – The Mortal Instruments/Shadowhunters

by Cassandra Clare

They are played so differently in the show than they are portrayed in the book (not that I’ve read them all STILL) Magnus is playing it very “your move” in the show, where as he definitely makes them in the books. I haven’t seen season 2 yet, but I had to include them on this list because I love how Magnus sees and describes Alec in the story about their first date. Alec is so shocked that Magnus saw him and not Jace and he’s just blown away. Fantastic start to a romance!

6 Naomi and Xander – The Obsession

by Nora Roberts

This is the newest couple I’ve fallen in love with. I only just finished The Obsession (embarrassing my first Nora Roberts novel). They made an amazing couple. Naomi was strong willed and independent but Xander managed to work his way into her life and  make her realise how much more there was to life. Their relationship was electric!

7 Altas and Lily – It Ends with Us

by Colleen Hoover

This book looked at the best and the worst possible relationships so how could I not choose Altas and Lily for this list? This relationship was meant to be and just mentioning it makes me want to read it all over again.

8 Jasper and Dorian – The Girl at Midnight/The Shadow Hour

by Melissa Grey

There are loads of cute relationships in this series but Jasper and Dorian’s is easily my favourite. They are so cute with Jasper’s full on approach and Dorian’s shy nature. I can’t wait to read the third book and find out how their relationship develops further.

9 Louisa and Will – Me Before You

by Jojo Moyes

It may be a heartbreaking romance but I challenge anyone to say this wasn’t a great fictional couple. I loved Louisa’s optimistic and quirky personality and how she made Will’s life better just by being in it. I feel teary even now.

10 Lucien and Anya – The Darkest Kiss

by Gena Showalter

Lucien may never be the prettiest Lord of the Underworld with his scared face but Anya loves him all the same. She drives him crazy with her trickster ways and infuriates his brothers but everything about their relationship just sparks! It’s been a while since I read one of Gena’s books but if I need a hot steamy romance I know I can trust her Lords to deliver.
