Musing Monday

pammusing
It’s time for Musing Mondays, a meme from The Purple Booker!

Please note that Musing Monday has moved from Books and a Beat.

Musing Mondays is a weekly meme that asks you to choose one of the following prompts to answer and then supplies a random question:

  • I’m currently reading…
  • Up next I think I’ll read…
  • I bought the following book(s) in the past week…
  • I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
  • I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
  • I can’t wait to get a copy of…
  • I wish I could read ___, but…
  • I blogged about ____ this past week…
I’m really upset by…the fact that I can’t get my hands on a Hardback version of A Conjuring of Light by V E Schwab

A Conjuring of Light

So some of you may remember that a couple of weeks ago I was excited for the release of A Conjuring of Light. I have been waiting forever for this final instalment and yet… I still haven’t read it because I can’t get my hands on the version I want. I know it sounds stupid and petty but I already own books one and two in this edition and I can’t bear the thought of not having the matching set. I don’t understand why I can’t find a copy of it anywhere! I know I live in the UK but I thought you could get your hands on any edition these days. I was even willing to pay the £21 that the book depository were charging just to get a copy but apparently it isn’t available at the moment. Tell me, do you think I’m being totally unreasonable or are you the same as me and think that matching sets are a necessity?

We’re going to be a week behind each Musing Monday as we sadly can’t post on the day anymore but we’re loving the random questions and we will try and get round everyone’s posts when we can!

LAST WEEKS RANDOM QUESTION: If you could travel to one place you’ve read about in a book, what place would you visit and what book was it from?

I would love to visit any fantasy world, basically to experience something different. Somewhere like the Valley where Agnieszka, from Uprooted by Naomi Novik, lived and the enchanted woods that surrounded it. Or Kyralia which was the setting of The Black Magicians Trilogy by Trudi Canavan. But if I had to choose one place in fiction that I just had to visit, I would definitely choose the Discworld (created by Terry Pratchett) because not only are there so many different places to visit but so many amazing characters you could bump into. I loved that about his books. The way you would be reading about a set of characters and they would cross paths with another set of characters that you met in another book, so clever, especially when its just a passing snapshot of a conversation in a bar etc.

How about you? Where would you go in Fiction?

I personally don’t really care if the covers match or not, but I do agree that if you’re going to buy a book you might as well go for the edition you want.
