Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Books Still On Our TBR Shelves

pamstopten

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish that other bloggers are welcome to join in, to create Top Ten lists on varying topics. Broke and Bookish are having a break until the 15th August so we’ve come up with some of our own!  This week it’s Top Ten books still on our TBR shelves.

1 The Night Circus

by Erin Morgenstern

I bought this in 2013 from one of the NSPCC sales I go to. I was vaguely interested but I’ve heard lots of good stuff about it since then. I’ve mostly forgotten what it’s about but it keeps surviving the book culls so maybe I’ll eventually actually READ IT!

2 The Infernal Devices trilogy

by Cassandra Clare

I hear fantastic things about Will and Jem and I know some things from the internet, but I still haven’t read these. Mostly because I know I need to read The Mortal Instruments first. I’m slowly working my way through those…two more to go!

3 Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

by John Tiffany and Jack Thorne

I still haven’t read this! I planned to re-read the whole series first which is something I’ve planned on the past two Christmases! Maybe this year?
What’s worse is that my one of my cousins youngish children has read it and has strong opinions about the whole affair.
(she wasn’t allowed to watch the films till she’d read the books, A+++ parenting!)

4 The Fate of the Tearling

by Erika Johansen

I have no idea what’s going on in this world and I so badly want to find out! And yet this is still unread. Why is that?! Who knows…The books in this series have a vaguely brown/grey colouring respectively so I had these in mind to read within the next two months -because one and two will most certainly need a re-read!

5 A Discovery of Witches

by Deborah Harkness

I’ve had this since 2012…I own the whole series actually – I wasn’t going to buy 3 until I’d read the first two but I found it at such a good price in my local supermarket I couldn’t resist.
I hoped to read them this year, but it’s not looking likely now!

6 The Winner’s Curse

by Marie Rutkoski

I feel so guilty that this series is still on my shelves. I bought the first book back in 2014 and if you look closely, you will see that I have since bought the rest of the trilogy, even though I haven’t even read the first book! But who can blame me when the covers are this beautiful! I really hope to read this series soon. Fingers crossed it won’t end up on this list again next year.

7 Isla and the Happily Ever After

by Stephanie Perkins

I read Lola and the boy next door earlier this year and absolutely loved it. I can’t wait to read this, the final book in the series and re-visit some of the lovely characters.

8 The Thief

by Megan Whalen Turner

I can’t even remember when I bought this book, it was that long ago. I’d kinda forgotten I owned it until I re-arranged my shelves recently. I’ve since been browsing the reviews on Goodreads and have only seen good things. So perhaps I will try it soon. Gorgeous cover though!

9 Nineteen Eighty-Four

by George Orwell

I went through a stage where I wanted to buy loads of classics but as old paperback copies. There was something so appealing about the worn edges, the simple dated covers and the thought that they could have been read and enjoyed by so many other people. I would search bootsales and second hands shop for them. This classic is one of those purchases. On the plus side no one else really wants these copies so I would get them for a steal! Usually for about 50p each. Really must read this classic though.

10 Dust Girl

by Sarah Zettel

I have loads of hardbacks that I haven’t read yet but as this months colour for our Colour Challenge is Brown I thought I could mention this one and it may encourage me to finally read it! I can’t remember what its about but it looks good.

Haha, alright, I’ll see if I can fit it into this summer! It’s a white one and July’s officially over, but unofficially I’m reading July books this week :p
