ILLUMICRATE is a quarterly, UK based book subscription box. Each crate contains a newly released book, no more than 30 days before shipping, from different genres and a variety of between 3 and 6 fun things. Examples are bookmarks, candles, stationery, tote bags, prints, and other small items that book lovers are sure to enjoy. Check out their Past Boxes for an example of what to expect. Sometimes the books are sent out before the release date and periodically the box features a variety of extras – sometimes including an ARC! Boxes cost £29.99 – free postage to the UK, international postage ranges from £4.99 – £13.99. Unlike other book boxes this box does not have a theme.

My thoughts:

Warbringer! And a special edition no less! (It has sprayed red pages) I started to read this book already, but I was a little annoyed that some of the elements of the film were in a book clearly NOT about the film, so I’ve put it aside for now. But it’s still an exciting book.

This was a pretty great box. I think my second favourite item is the tea – mainly because it’s Nevernight inspired and I can’t wait to try it out in the knife shaped tea strainer I got from another book box (if it’s not red tea I will be horribly disappointed – what a missed opportunity!)
The book tabs too are pretty exciting. I see people with tabs in their books and I want to do it too but I’ve never had any – also I’m usually too focused on the reading – I guess it’s a re-read task, certainly my digital copy of The Coldest Girl in Coldtown is super highlighted and bookmarked.

You don’t often see His Dark Materials inspired items very much – though I did get a scent box from William and Joseph a few years ago inspired by the series, so the coaster was pretty fantastic. I knew the Alethiometer was complex but I had forgotten quite how much. This will go fantastically with my fancy editions.

I believe the jar is meant to be a money jar but the thought of dropping coins into a jar concerns me. As it says “read this book next” on it though, I might just use it as a TBR jar! I have some books that should probably be raffled into the reading schedule at some point…maybe next year?

You don’t see many Percy Jackson things about either! Or, at least I haven’t and this is a DOTTED notebook! That’s pretty fantastic, I think they’re a great idea. They’re like plain, lined and squared notebooks in one.

And finally, I always love a pouch! Even if I have no idea what to do with it.

I guess that wasn’t really finally – second book! I haven’t heard of Nyxia but it sound interesting and so many book marks! Which is good – I am an expert at loosing them…
