Musing Monday : The one about books you aren’t keeping. – 09/10/17

pammusing
It’s time for Musing Mondays, a meme from The Purple Booker!

Please note that Musing Monday has moved from Books and a Beat.

Musing Mondays is a weekly meme that asks you to choose one of the following prompts to answer and then supplies a random question:

  • I’m currently reading…
  • Up next I think I’ll read…
  • I bought the following book(s) in the past week…
  • I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
  • I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
  • I can’t wait to get a copy of…
  • I wish I could read ___, but…
  • I blogged about ____ this past week…
I’ve bought the following books in the past week:

1 – 5 of A Song of Ice and Fire by George R R Martin.

I’ve had them before but I thought I’d never read them after a failed attempt and gave them away. I’m steaming through the audio books however and sometimes I just like to have a visual back up for some quotes, but also I like to mark my progress…

We’re going to be a week behind each musing monday as we sadly can’t post on the day anymore but we’re loving the random questions and we will try and get round everyone’s posts when we can!

LAST WEEKS RANDOM QUESTION: What do you do with your non keeper hard copy books?

I hoard them. Haha. Sometimes they sit on my shelves until I feel ruthless and then they go.
I ask my friends if they’d be interested in the book/edition that I have. If so I hang on to them until I next see them and pass them off into their collection. Sometimes I add them to the swap-shelf at work but it’s been moved and it’s a lot less accessible now so mostly the rest go to charity.
There are some that I hold onto however. One I still have that was horrid and I don’t want people to read it so I have no idea what to do with it, I can’t even use it for crafting – which has happened with other books I thought were terrible. At least they were just horribly written, no also containing horrible things.
I do have some books in the craft pile that are not horrid; really tatty, battered copies of some Narnia books and a copy of Jane Eyre with a terrible cover, but they’re still intact and can be liberated at any moment.
The final group of books are ones that I didn’t think would be likely to sale at the fete I was sending them to and a complete set of some Mangas that I’m considering selling.

What do you do with books you don’t keep?
