pamstopten

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish that other bloggers are welcome to join in, to create Top Ten lists on varying topics. This week it’s a Halloween Freebie! (Happy Halloween! Let your creativity run wild with a themed post to celebrate!) And we chose ghosts!

1 Road to Nowhere

By Christopher Pike

This is one of my favourite Christopher Pike books. It’s not heavily ghosty, but there are ghosts in it! I won’t say anything else for fear of giving too much away.

2 Remember Me: 1

By Christopher Pike

Can’t start a ghost list without several Christopher Pike books!
This is another favourite, but I’ve specified 1 because 2 and 3 sort of veer off somewhere else entirely.
1 is about a girl who was murdered and she spends the book finding out who and why.

3 In the Garden Trilogy

by Nora Roberts

What I like about Nora’s trilogies is that there is a separate story per book, but at the same time they’re all connected. What connects these three is not only the garden centre where they all work, but the ghost of an unknown woman who is haunting them and getting more dangerous as their relationships progress!

4 The Jackaby Series

by William Ritter

Can’t possibly miss off Jackaby! This isn’t a ghost story, but it has a ghost in it. Jenny. The series is set in her house, where she was killed and they come up with inventive ways to help her leave and explore and see to those who messed with her basically. She becomes quite a force!

5 Haunted duology

by Dyan Sheldon

A girls parents divorce and she moves away from her friends and her life etc into a house with a ghost. BJ is not impressed at this girl moving into his room and they both get a surprise when it turns out she can see him!
Basically they become friends and they help each other out. They might even fall in love a little, but I never really focused on that because it wouldn’t work, what with him being dead and all…
I loved these books when I read them in school, but I really need to re-read them soon I think…

Small Hand Magic Dark and Bright sanctum screaming staircase The Diviners

6 The Small Hand

by Susan Hill

Probably not the best example of a ghost story because I didn’t enjoy it that much. I found it a little lack luster. But I know some people love Susan Hill’s old story telling style and the concept was really good, it just wasn’t for me.

7 A Magic Dark and Bright (The Asylum Saga #1)

by Jenny Adams Perinovic

I liked the way this story was written but again this ghost story didn’t really do it for me. I think I’m quite hard to please when it comes to ghost stories. I would say, give this one a go though, if you have the time. You never know, you might be more lenient than me.

8 Sanctum (Guards of the Shadowlands #1)

by Sarah Fine

Now this story I really enjoyed. This story is more about the inbetween rather than ghosts but I wanted to include it because I found some parts really creepy.

9 The Scream Staircase (Lockwood & Co #1)

by Jonathan Stroud

This was a great children’s Sherlock Holme’s like story. It’s well balanced with a really exciting storyline. I haven’t got round to reading the rest of the series but I would like to at some point.

10 The Diviners (The Diviners #1)

by Libba Bray

I absolutely loved this book and book two (Lair of Dreams) it’s so atmospheric.
