Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Unique Book Titles

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish that other bloggers are welcome to join in, to create Top Ten lists on varying topics. This week it’s Top Ten Unique Book Titles.

The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making the darkest part of the forest the mime order wicked like wildfire The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared

What makes a unique book title?! I have no idea, I searched for a bunch, ones I thought were and even some I thought weren’t, some results were a surprise and others not, so I chose the ones that were alone in the search criteria and here we are!

The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making

by Catherynne M. Valente

2 results on goodreads, this book and lesson plans for this book!
Really with a name that long and spesific, I’d have been surprised if other books had shown up too.
I got this at the book fair a few years ago and I still haven’t read it…oops.
Maybe it’s time to start setting limits on unread books again, not that I ever stick to them but still…

by Holly Black

2 results, this book and a sample of this book.
This was a surprise! I thought that with a name like this there’d be a few more hits, considering how spooky dark forests are.
I’ve read this one and I loved it! I’d recommend reading it. But read The Coldest Girl in Coldtown first!

3 The Mime Order

by Samantha Shannon

2 results! This book and a combo pack with book 1. So does that count?!
The second in The Bone Season series (I purposely didn’t search for that, you’d get several because it’s the name of the series too!)
I need to read this book, I’ve read the first and I really enjoyed it. I’m sort of waiting for book 3 in matching paperback though, even though it seems there’s more than 3! Well, we’ll see what next year brings.

4 Wicked Like a Wildfire

by Lana Popović

ONE!! Just this book!
Wow! the only one resulter on my list. Took me a time to find this though, I had anything from 52 to 6,021 results! haha
This recently came in a book box but it’s been on my radar for a little while now, I found it for a past Top Ten Tuesday and I’ve had my eye on it. I look forward to reading it!

The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared

by Jonas Jonasson

12 results, this book, readers digests, conversation starters, facts and summaries, all about this book.
After the time it took to find book 4 I followed the pattern of finding book one – a long and specific name. Ok, yes there were 12 results, but they were all about this book specifically, so I went with it!
Another book fair book I haven’t read. I need to do another clear out, I wonder if it will survive the cull…

6 Blackbringer

By Laini Taylor

1 result on Goodreads!
I am a massive fan of Laini Taylor and I personally think all her titles sound unique. I feel she started the trend to string random nouns together to make a title… Don’t you think there are so many of them now? Daughter of Smoke and Bone… A Court of Thorns and Roses (Sarah J Maas) … A Book of Spirits and Thieves (Morgan Rhodes) etc etc… So obviously i didn’t choose those titles but one of her earlier books that I’ve yet to read. I like that it sounds magical, how do you bring black? Hmm intriguing… Must read this.

7 Drink, Slay, Love

By Sarah Beth Durst

1 result.
OK so not unique in the fact that it’s imitating Eat, Pray, Love but unique in the puny nature of it. FYI, in case you didn’t know this book has unicorns in it so I had to include it for that reason alone.

8 Seasonal Suicide Notes: My Life As It Is Lived

By Lewis Rogers

2 results, this book twice. The main page of this book has it under Roger Lewis instead of Lewis Rogers…
There can literally only be one book with this title surely? The cover of this book always makes me smile, a snowman trying to kill itself with a hairdryer, hehe. But I haven’t read it yet so I’m not sure if the content matches its title and cover design. Maybe this year I’ll get round to it.

9 The Sacred Lies Of Minnow Bly

By Stephanie Oakes

1 result.
I’ve been meaning to read this for quite a while now and who wouldn’t with a title like that! A perfectly unique title.

10 Vassa In The Night

By Sarah Porter

1 result!
I got this in a fairyloot box a while back and I loved the title with its nod to Traditional Russian fairytales. I think it’s a pretty unique title and it makes me want to read it ASAP.
