It’s that time of the year again, the time of year when we get to buy books we don’t need and probably wont read, all in the name of charity.
Yes! we’re talking about the NSPCC Book Fair at Holmwood House School!
The end of October is here and it brings more than spooks.
This is our sixth year attending this event, but did we get anything?!

If you’re local and wish we’d told you sooner (sorry about that) Never fear! You can attend tomorrow too! But remember the clocks change! Don’t get there for 8.30…
Relevant information can be found at the bottom of this post cause we know you’re actually here to see the books!:

I’m quite pleased with my haul this year. Usually I find things I MIGHT be interested in but return to the charity circuit years later, completely unread. I think most of these, if not all, have grand prospects!

Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay

Ah, Dexter! I’ve been interested in reading the series since before I saw any of the show. I’ve seen several series of it now but this was the first time I saw any of the series at the fair! I’m looking forward to this book.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the GalaxyThe Restaurant at the End of the Universe and Life, the Universe and Everything by Douglas Adams

Yes, I know I bought the omnibus last year, but fun fact! I hate omnibus books (And the only reason it survived the last ‘un-haul’ is for audio book check in purposes)…Also these covers were so pretty, I love them! Now, where are the rest…?

It by Stephen King

I just watched a Readbyzoe read-along vlog where she read IT in 24 hours. And I thought that was crazy, but she said it was quite scary, so I figured I’d read it next October! This one is too far gone now. Also, I’ve read one or two of his books before and they’re heavy going, so I need a year to build up to it!

The Girl of Ink and Stars by Kiran Millwood Hargrave

This has been on my to read list for a little while now, I was so pleased to find it!

The Witches Tears by Katharine Corr & Elizabeth Corr

Ms4Tune found this one for me! I still haven’t read the first one, but I couldn’t pass up this one!

The Scottish Prisoner by Diana Gabaldon

This is book 3?! Oh well, I knew it was related to Outlander somehow, I didn’t quite realise it was #3 in an branch off series. It was the only one I could see in the boxes under the tables. I will have another look tomorrow.

A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir

I know I haven’t read the first one yet, I did look for it too, but I couldn’t see it. It feels like a book read rather than a kindle read. I really want to like this series so it made sense to me to get book 2.
Oh yeah, and it’s an ARC!

I got more than I thought. Not a bad haul if I do say so myself.

Georgina Kincaid Series 1-4 by Richelle Mead

This isn’t the first time I’ve found a Richelle Mead Series at the NSPCC book fair… I actually found my vampire academy series and my dark Swan series at previous fairs and I’m loving it. I can’t wait to read this series.

The Stand by Stephen King

I’ve never actually read anything by Stephen King. I know, terrible isn’t it! But I’m ready to rectify this and as I was recommended this book by a good reads friend, I can’t think of a better place to start.

The Obsession by Nora Roberts

I don’t think I’ve ever actually done this but I’ve already read this book! I got this as an Arc way back when,  and I loved it. So when I saw a copy, with a gorgeous cover, I couldn’t help myself and bought it. I’m actually excited to reread it!

An Abundance of Katherine’s by John Green

I really like Looking For Alaska so I hope I will like this one too.

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriaty

No idea if this will be for me but I know that it’s been made into a series in Netflix and would prefer to read the book first.  I’m intrigued to find out what it’s about.

Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro

Again, no idea what this is about but it’s on my list of 100 books recommended by Amazon to read before you die. At a £1 I couldn’t say no.

For Cassie I got…

3 books by Make believe ideas Ltd
1. Sleeping Beauty, 2. Hansel and Gretel,  3. Red Riding Hood

I love a fairytale and these are really cute board books that I hope she will love. Plus they rhyme. I love a rhyming book.

Peter Rabbit Peekaboo

It looked cool with all its flaps and hidey holes and was only 50p.
