Musing Monday: 06/11/17 – The one about classics

pammusing
It’s time for Musing Mondays, a meme from The Purple Booker!

Please note that Musing Monday has moved from Books and a Beat.

Musing Mondays is a weekly meme that asks you to choose one of the following prompts to answer and then supplies a random question:

  • I’m currently reading…
  • Up next I think I’ll read…
  • I bought the following book(s) in the past week…
  • I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
  • I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
  • I can’t wait to get a copy of…
  • I wish I could read ___, but…
  • I blogged about ____ this past week…
I bough the following book in the last week:

Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero.

It wasn’t available through the usual avenues so, having waited some time, I ended up going else where. I want to read it now! But I really need to try and complete this years colour challenge so I might have to wait a little, especially as I’m in a bit of a rut…

We’re going to be a week behind each musing monday as we sadly can’t post on the day anymore but we’re loving the random questions and we will try and get round everyone’s posts when we can!

LAST WEEKS RANDOM QUESTION: Have you ever met someone who really REALLY likes to talk about all the classic books they have read? If so what did you think?

I don’t know that I have. I think I’ve met people who have mentioned reading Classics but I tend to stop paying attention. I always feared I’d find classics boring and that people who managed to read them were impressive but those who enjoyed them large scale must also be boring. They’re all so long winded and some of them quite different, how can you manage to like them ALL?!
Since then I’ve read one classic, Pride and Prejudice. I love the film adaptions and thought it was perhaps time to see if I enjoyed the source material. It took me a while and I’m pretty sure I’d prefer an adaption, if I can find a good one, but I’m pretty proud I’ve managed it! It gave me hope for reading some others.

Are you a classic fan? What do you think of people who like to boast about having read them all?
