Musing Monday: 20/11/17 – The one about ‘The book was better’.

pammusing
It’s time for Musing Mondays, a meme from The Purple Booker!

Please note that Musing Monday has moved from Books and a Beat.

Musing Mondays is a weekly meme that asks you to choose one of the following prompts to answer and then supplies a random question:

  • I’m currently reading…
  • Up next I think I’ll read…
  • I bought the following book(s) in the past week…
  • I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
  • I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
  • I can’t wait to get a copy of…
  • I wish I could read ___, but…
  • I blogged about ____ this past week…
I bought the following books in the past week:

La Belle Sauvage by Phillip Pullman and Undercover Princess by Connie Glynn.

I bought them in the supermarket, I was on the hunt for a colouring book. Undercover princess was so pretty and only £6 for a hardback!

We’re going to be a week behind each musing monday as we sadly can’t post on the day anymore but we’re loving the random questions and we will try and get round everyone’s posts when we can!

RANDOM QUESTION FROM FOUR WEEKS AGO: Are there any books you really want to see made into Tv shows or films?

It doesn’t seem like there was one last week!, I have no opinion on the one from the week before and I’ve already answered the one from the week before that, so this will have to do!

Yes. But TV shows over films, that way they can include EVERY SINGLE DETAIL!!!!
Though having said that, some books would work as a film, or a 4/5 part series.
The thing that annoys me most about adaptions is when they radically change a character or the plot. It’s like starting with Twilight and ending up with 50 Shades of Grey – too much ‘wait, what?!’.

I think that the books I’d love to see most are the Alanna books and sequels by Tamora Pierce. Or maybe the Valdemar series in chronological order. Both would give YEARS worth of shows that if done right would just blow everyone away. Plus they both feature kickarse females and we’re in need of those right now.

Otherwise, books with a ton of description translate well. They can be hard to read, but make good films.
Nicholas Sparks books tend to make great films too. The film process fixes the mistakes in the books…

What books would you like to see adapted?
