Sum it up SATURDAY – December 2017

Sum it up Sunday is a feature post we are going to trial for the closing Sundays of each month. In these posts we’ll detail various things that have excited or upset us over that month.
If you’d like to join us in our summing up, please feel free! Just please, provide a link back to our blog. Thank you.

What are you reading right now?

I have a few on my reading shelf, but right now I’m actually only actively reading:
Everless by Sara Holland

I’ve started a few books…
The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead
The Last Namsara by Kirsten Ciccarelli
All The Crooked Saints by Maggie Stiefvater

The Underground Railroad The Last Namsara all the crooked

What was your favourite book this month?

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. I keep forgetting I’ve finished it and wanting to read more!

I haven’t finished anything again this month. Not even a kiddy book,
but…. out of the books I’m reading I’m enjoying The Last Namsara the most.

What was your least favourite book this month?

Jack Frost by William Joyce – WHAT did you do to his back story?! No thank you.
I used this as a RED book (the spine) and a  book made into a film, because Rise Of The Guardians. Totally not exploiting a loophole…

Again… same reason, I haven’t read anything
but… out of the books I’m reading its probably All the Crooked Saints as its a bit slow.

What do you want to read next?

I need to read The Sacrifice Box by Martin Stewart next! I need to review it – It was sold to me as being for fans of Stranger Things. That’s a big claim, I hope it lives up to they hype!
I do want to get in Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero when I can though.

Erm probably The Cruel Prince by Holly Black (cos Paein gave it 5 stars!)

What books are you hoping to collect next month?

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black! I’ve already read it but I will be needing a copy! I might wait for my book boxes first though, just to be on the safe side….

I’m actually not going to be buying any books next year (unless I really really really want it).
I’m planning to read books from Netgalley (for new publications),
the Library (for anything I don’t have but is already out) and my library (for everything else).

How are your challenges going?

With one day left to go:
Uppercase: 12/12!!
Colour covers: 36/12!
I bent the rules a tiny bit, but eh.

Goodread Reading Challenge: 23/52
If you counted all the books I read with Cas, then technically I would have managed 52 but I didn’t so I failed this one.
Uppercase: 11/12
awww man I was one away from completing this one… maybe before the end of the year I could sneak ‘A Book becoming a Film’ in… any suggestions?
Colour covers: 5/12
I only managed to match the colours in 5 months. The rest of the time I read something but they didn’t have the right colour cover.

Anything you’re going to try and do more of next month?

Read book box books!
I have a shelf full. An actual shelf full… I need to read the ones I want to read and get over the attachments I have for the ones I don’t and donate them.
Then read the new ones….

Read one book a month and make it a good one.
And write up some of my reviews. I have pages of notes and not a single review to show for them!

Did you complete this month’s targets?

YES!!! haha, I’ve read, I’ve completed at least one reading challenge and I’ve read some netgalley books.
Three for three!

ha no.

Any rants or raves?
Anything to boast about?

I’ve discovered that my unboxing photographs are sideways?! Why did no one tell me?! how long has this been going on?! uggh, they aren’t sideways when I post it though.
Wait, I feel like I’ve said that before…Did I know and just forget? Oh no….
How do I fix this? uggghh pesky blog.

I have thoroughly enjoyed buying books for my little one this year. I actually think I enjoy buying her books more than I enjoy buying books for myself… Which is quite a surprise to me.
