What are you reading right now?

Paein:
The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert at the time of writing this, but hopefully I’ve moved onto Belles by Dhonielle Clayton as this goes up.
I’m also listening to : A Dance with Dragons By George R R Martin

The Hazel Wood The Belles a dance with dragons

Ms4Tune:
I was going to be good and read Half Lost by Sally Green.
Then i would have finally finished the series but the Hero at the Fall by Alwyn Hamilton fell through my letterbox and I couldnt help myself…

Hero at the Fall

What was your favourite book this month?

Paein:
MOXIE by Jennifer Mathieu. Seriously, what an amazing book! (I’ll tell you more tomorrow in my review!)

moxie

Ms4Tune:
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
Absolutely brilliant book, worth every minute!

the cruel prince

What was your least favourite book this month?

Paein:
Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero. Honestly, it didn’t really have a lot to do for me to love it, it just had to be chock full of nostalgia.
Instead it’s gave my my first true brush with the ‘male writer writes female character’ cliche and it had a (mostly/straight) male fantasy subplot that took a wrong turn into creepyville.

Ms4Tune:
Solar Bones by Mike McCormack
I didn’t even finish it. The writing style was clever but just not for me…

Solar Bones

What do you want to read next?

Paein:
Artemis by Andy Weir because I loved The Martian, much to my surprise or
Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli because I watched the trailer for the film and I REALLY want to know who Blue is!!!

Artemis simon vs the homosapiens agenda

Ms4Tune:
hmm either Everless by Sara Holland
or Warcross by Marie Lu

everless warcross

What books did you collect this month?

Paein:
Hero at the Fall by Alwyn Hamilton
Cruel Prince by Holly Black (Fairyloot)
The Fandom by Anna Day (Book Box Club)
and from Netgalley:
The Beast’s Heart by Leife Shallcross

Ms4Tune:
I didn’t plan to buy anything this month but i ended up buying:
The Game of Thrones Leatherbound set… kinda screwed if I have to read all of them by the end of this year!
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black… because I loved it so much.
and Hero at the Fall by Alwyn Hamilton… just because…

What books are you hoping to collect next month?

Paein:
Sightwitch by Susan Dennard
Tempests and Slaughter by Tamora Pierce
And whatever books are in this months boxes!

Ms4Tune:
The only thing I have as a planned purchase is my Illumicrate Box. Eek I can’t wait.

 How are your challenges going?

Paein:
I have doubles because it happened….
Netgalley Challenge: 3, working on my 4th ( Everless, The Sacrifice Box, The Hazel Wood, Belles)
Finishing the Series Challenge: 0
Book Box Challenge: 2! (Everless and The Sacrifice Box – I received an ARC in a box)

Reviews: I’m 1 behind. I still have one pending review to write, but I had to finish crocheting some Drako Dino Cowls by yesterday AND I had to get the next two Netgalley books read by the 8th so, I’ll give myself the benefit of the doubt….

Ms4Tune:
Netgalley Challenge : 1 (Cruel Prince)
Finishing the Series Challenge : 0
Book Box Challenge: 1 (The Last Namsara)
The Unread Shelf Project 2018 : 2 (The Underground Railroad and The Last Namsara)
Sadly while I may have read two books – I also bought two books, but one of those books I’d already read as an ARC so it’s not quite as bad.

Reviews: I haven’t actually written any but I have read three books so I will write reviews for them and post them in February… I promise!

And finally…I Bought It So I Must Read It…. 1/7 (not the best start but hopefully will get stuck into a few more next month! However I may not manage The Game of Thrones series…)

Any rants or raves?
Anything to boast or even just chat about?

Paein:
I was so excited to see I was given the chance to read The Beast’s Heart! It looks so pretty and sounds so good! I was sure I’d get turned down.
Also nervous about Tamora Pierces’ new book, after the last one was so uncharacteristically terrible…
And I’m excited for the film based off of Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda?! I have no idea why, the cover even put me off reading it previously. Ok, that’s an exaggeration, the cover and the fact he get’s revealed to everyone put me of. But I want to see the film and I want to read the book first. Hopefully this wont be a Paper Towns situation.

Ms4Tune:
Ooww well… my ravings this month are all V E Schwab related… did anyone else squeal when they saw her instagram posts about City of Ghosts? Gahhh so excited it sounds amazing… also nearly died when I saw snippet from Vengeful! Vicious is going straight to the top of my reading pile :)
