I listened to these so much as a child that I had to buy them in digital form when I no longer had a tape player!! It was way beyond time for a re-listen!
I would recommend these to everyone. This specific series. I’ll listen to no other! Mostly for nostalgia, but also because these are the voices and attitudes I always attribute to these characters now.
I mean it when I say I listened to them so much…

The Magician’s Nephew

Thinking on it, I must have got these tapes – yes, I got them as tapes! – at different times. Some of these stories aren’t nearly as familiar to me, I don’t know if it’s because I was given them later or if I didn’t like them as much and so I didn’t listen to them…
This one is certainly one of the lesser known ones.
The story is well dramatised, but it’s not my favourite.

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

This is perhaps the tape I received second. I have fond memories of this tape and listening to it just makes me smile. It’s not my favourite – I know it’s the favourite of many people! It’s the most popular and while I love it, I love others more.

The Horse and His Boy

I’m pretty sure this was my very first story. I listened to it so much, I can still say lines with the characters!
This is also not my favourite, but it’s my most familiar. I guess I had this one so much before the others.

Prince Caspian

Always my favourite. I just love the sentiment of this one. These wise children, returning to Narnia and using their skills to put the rightful king on his throne.
The film ruined this, but I still can’t hate it! Even though Peter’s attitude is totally opposite.

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

This might be my second favourite.
I remember one of these tapes broke, did I play it too much?! – I even tried to fix it with tape but I don’t remember if I succeeded…

The Silver Chair

 I didn’t like this one very much. I think that Caspian is one of my favourite characters and if you know this story you’ll know why perhaps I dislike this one so much. That’s right, they changed Caspian’s voice.
Edmond is another and he’s not really in this one either!

The Last Battle

My least favourite, this one. And not just because it’s The End.
This is the most confusing of the lot and it’s the last bit I dislike most.
Certainly this one is the last one I received as I know it least.
