I don’t think I have any books I’ve HATED and been glad to have read at the same time. These are the closest I could get. While I don’t hate them, my memory of them is bleh and I’ve given them away.

1 The Princess Bride

by William Goldman

I LOVED the film and when you hear a film like that is based off of a book, you expect something pretty epic. Nope. A whole book of nope.
So much nope that I even tore the book up for crafting, le gasp! I felt I couldn’t pass it on, and now I have a Princess Bride themed box!
I’m glad I read it though because somehow it happened to make the film that much more amazing!

2 Unwind

This was a strange book, I only have vague memories of the full plot but the overall memory is pretty creepy.
I’m glad I read this though, because it meant that when I got Scythe in a book box I recognised the name of the author and it made me far more receptive to the book – which I think meant I stuck with it perhaps longer than I would have other wise, which was lucky as I ended up loving it.

3 The Knowland Retribution

This is the book that The Finder was based off of. This book had too much detail for me, but the character is amazing!
I’m glad I got to see his origins. So sad they cancelled the show after the first season and I can’t find it on DVD

4 Allegiant

My review of this book starts like this:
“This book is not my friend. It’s hard to review a good book you didn’t like.”
I didn’t like this book but I did like this world and I’m glad I spent the time in this world that I did. I never watched passed the first film though. Not only was Four too old, they also changed the whole storyline! Therefore I’m also glad that I read the books first.

5 Dark Fire

So this is number 6 in this series and basically if you’ve read the first few you’ve read them all. I read these on the recommendation of someone I want to college with. She loved something that happened in book 9 or something and wanted me to read them so that I could talk with her about it. I really wasn’t enjoying myself with them as all the women were practically the same character just with a different history and colouring (and these were written by a WOMAN). Then I hit this one and I just couldn’t go any further.
I’m glad I read this one because it meant I didn’t keep going and this later helped me lead up to putting down books I wasn’t enjoying rather than forcing myself to go through them.

6 Inkheart

I watched the film and really enjoyed it and thought I really should read the book. Honestly, if I’d read this when I was younger I probably would have loved it but as an adult it just seemed long and cliched. The film was better (not something I say usually). I’m glad I read it though because I still appreciate the magic of it, and now I can recommend it to my daughter when she’s a little older but not as old as me lol.

7 The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie

Can you regret reading a classic… I think I’m close with this one. It was so boring and bland but I guess I’m still glad I can tick this off my list of 100 books to read before you die.

8 Thirteen Reasons Why

by Jay Asher

So contraversial. I didn’t enjoy this one, but then can anyone really say they enjoyed it? I didn’t, but I’m still glad I read it. I think it’s important to be aware of other people and issues like this.

9 Isla and the Happily Ever After

by Stephanie Perkins

I didn’t enjoy this book at all. I was really sad as I loved the previous two. I’m happy that I finished the series though. It’s always nice to complete something.

10 Avoiding Temptation

Again another end to a series that, in my opinion, was a waste of time and paper. I loved the previous two but didn’t agree with where the storyline went, and I don’t think I was alone. Glad to tick off another completed series though.
