Top Ten Tuesday: Favourite Couples In Books

pamstopten

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.
It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
This weeks topic is Top Ten Favourite Couples In Books

Uhh, so hard to pick! I’ll go with the first ones that come to mind!

a court of mist and fury pride and prejudice The wrath and the Dawn vampire academy outlander

1 Fayre and Rhysand

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas

I’m still reading about these guys – I should have finished this book a week ago, but I was still a little ill and I’m procrastinating. Things are good right now, but they’ll soon have to go through some trials before we get to the end and I don’t relish it!
So why are they a favourite couple? Because he always gives her a choice and she will always fight for him. Anything else is gonna contain spoilers. Actually this pairing is kind of a spoiler – but it’s one you really can’t avoid…sorry about that.

2 Elizabeth Bennett and Mr Darcy

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

I was always hesitant about reading this book, I loved the film (2005) and thought the writing would put me off. While it took me a while to read the book, I’ve listened to the audiobook narrated by Rosamund Pike so many times I’ve lost count!
They are a favourite because I like that their story starts with a terrible misunderstanding and ends with complete honesty. That he stops hiding the man he is and she admits she was wrong. Also, it sounds like they were terribly happy and that’s always the endgame!

3 Shazi and Khalid

The Wrath and the Dawn by Renée Ahdieh

Currently re-reading this but as an audiobook. The narrator is a little naff but I love the story so I’m dealing.
These guys are a favourite because they look at each other and demand more. You CAN do it, you’re BETTER than this. Get up, don’t stop, we can do this etc.
This is the kind of couple I want to read about – partnerships.

4 Rose and Dimitri

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

This is a bit of a dodgy one because he’s her teacher and that’s more than a bit of a problem. In fact that’s quite illegal. However, it’s not the average student/teacher situation though it does still bug me that I ship them…
They’re a favourite because when they work together they save worlds, or decimate kingdoms…
They could do with working together more, to be honest, but perhaps that’s just a little bit too dangerous…

5 Claire and Jamie

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

Another powerful romance. I’m mostly going from book 1 here because book 2 was blah.
They’re a favourite because she tells him the impossible and he believes her, because….ok, ok, it’s because they fight for each other, alright?
Most or…actually all… of this list has been couples that fight for each other.
Because, I like partnerships. I like couples who fight for each other because if they won’t, then why are they together?

Yeah, I should definitely read Outlander sometime. It popped up on a lot of lists this week.

This is my Top Ten Tuesday post.
