Top Ten Tuesday: Books From Our Favourite Genres

pamstopten

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.
It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
This weeks topic is Top Ten Books From Our Favourite Genres

The magicians guild poison study the magic in the weaving the false prince arrows of the queen

1 The Magicians Guild

by Trudi Canavan

I found this first book a little slow to be honest but the series sure explodes after that!
Sequels and prequels have been written, but I Have read none of them – as my favourite character is in none of them… but I will get to them eventually.

2 Poison Study

by Maria V Snyder

This story spans 3 sets of trilogies, starting with this book. I loved this book! But I read the Glass series, the second one, first by accident so nothing made sense. I wasn’t sure about it so I haven’t read it since….which was a mistake, going into series 3…so, start from the beginning and don’t skip glass! I have one more book left to read, so I’ll be following my own advice soon enough…

3 The Magic in the Weaving/Sandry’s Book

by Tamora Pierce

I think I love this series more than her Tortall ones, so I’m sad that it’s getting less attention. I want all these poor little sweethearts to get their HEA’s please.

4 The False Prince

by Jennifer R Nielson

Oh boy, I LOVE this series. It’s so cleverly written I fall in love every time I re-read it. I haven’t got anyone else to read them yet, but I will!!

5 Arrows of the Queen

By Mercedes Lackey

I believe this was the first Mercedes Lackey book I read and I fell in love with Valdemar. It’s so vast now, it’s hard to work out where to start and how to proceed. Especially as I think there are books still being added in the middle somewhere. I was trying to keep up, but they changed the covers and the only matching ones are omnibuses – no thank you – so I got a little disheartened. But this might be my next mass audio mission…

the cruel prince A Darker Shade final for Irene Sacrificed REBEL OF THE SANDs sineater

6 The Cruel Prince

by Holly Black

I don’t know of many people that haven’t read and loved this book. The Wicked King was a great sequel too. I can’t wait for The Queen of Nothing. So happy that the publication date was brought just a little bit closer!

7 A Darker Shade of Magic

by V E Schwab

This series was just stunning. I loved everything about it. I think I may re-read this as it’s been a while.

8 Sacrificed

by Emily Wibberley

I keep meaning to come back and read the rest of this series because the first book was really good! I especially enjoyed the kind of Mayan/ Aztec vibes it had.

9 Rebel of the Sands

by Alwyn Hamilton

Great series. It went in a different direction to how I thought it would but I was pleasantly pleased with how it finished.

10 Sin Eater’s Daughter

by Melinda Salisbury

I wasn’t as taken with the rest of the series but this first book. Man… it really hit me in the gut. I think it helped that I went into it with no preconceptions. No one else had read it when I picked it up. The cover is also gorgeous.

I enjoyed The Sin Eater’s Daughter. I’m reading ADSOM this month and Rebel of the Sands is on my TBR. Hopefully I’ll get to it soon. Great list!
