Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Unpopular Bookish Opinions

pamstopten

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.
It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
This weeks topic is Top Ten Unpopular Bookish Opinions

1 Ron and Hermione romance

Harry Potter by JK Rowling

Though this is cannon, it seems the majority of people ship Harry and Hermione far more. Why?! I Mean, if Ron hadn’t realised Hermione was a girl in 4th year, I don’t think Harry would have ever noticed…
Even JK Rowling is reported to regret it, but I think she made the right choice. He saved the house elves for her after all.

2 Mockingjay was terrible

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

I found it terribly boring and dragged out after the action of the first two books and I thought that some of Katniss’ decisions were rather out of character. The most interesting parts of the book were crammed into a few paragraphs instead of being explored properly. Or so I remember feeling. It HAS been 7 years since I read it last but it has a 4.03 star rating on Goodreads

3 The Mortal Instruments isn’t that great

by Cassandra Clare

These books, this whole world. I want to love it so badly I even have a shelf full of the books! It’s a well built world but I just find it a little meh. I loved the first three, back when I thought it was a trilogy and…maybe it should have shifted perspectives after that…I don’t know. There’s a lot I haven’t got to yet, but I really hope I can get through them all and move on.
I think it’s a little like marmite, but I neither love it nor hate it.

4 Caol is a-ok

Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas

I don’t understand the Caol hate. He was may favourite in the original love triangle, though he was a little bit of an idiot later on, AND a moron at the start of Tower of Dawn, but he was in pain and feeling sorry for himself so I’m not too mad. He has a simple world view and he tried so hard to make his reality fit it, but generally he tries to do the right thing.

5 The Darkling

The Shadow and Bone Trilogy (Formerly the Grisha trilogy) by Leigh Bardugo

Just no.
