Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.
It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
This weeks topic is Top Ten Character Traits We Love
1 Sense of humour
I love characters that are amusing, they just make books fantastic to read. I don’t like characters with a vile sense of humour though. It’s got to be tasteful and clever.
2 Quick wit
This could be the same, but I really don’t think so. I’d class this as banter – being a banter genius, maybe even sarcasm.
I like characters that are loyal – sometimes even to a fault. I know this is actually a character flaw, making it hard for them to see when those they’re loyal to have messed up, but I feel better about them as people. Maybe because I like to see the best in people? Maybe.
4 Sense of honour
Again, similar – but at the same time not so much. I like to read about characters who have a drive to do the right thing.
I love a bit of romance on the side and I like it when characters are open to it. It always gets on my nerves when a character displays faux ‘independence’ by turning down a partner in crime.
