Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Really Want To Read But Don’t Own Yet

pamstopten

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish that other bloggers are welcome to join in, to create Top Ten lists on varying topics. This week, it’s highly anticipated reads we don’t currently have in our obsessive paws. Er, I mean hands…

Half of these are on my pre-ordered list, but I thought that was kind of cheating because the only reason I don’t have them yet is because they aren’t yet published ( as it was, with series continuation books I could have easily done 10 books from my pre-order list. It spans all the way into next year. Oops…) so I also added five that are published that I’d love to read too, this task wasn’t easy, as I tend to get my hands on all the ones I’m desperate to read relatively quickly.

1 Princess of Thorns by Stacey Jay

18782855

A book about Sleeping Beauty’s daughter. For years I was convinced Sleeping Beauty was my favourite, mainly because everyone else loved beauty and the Beast. So learning about Aurora’s daughter is a rather exciting thought.

2 Fairest/Winter by Marissa Meyer

Ok, Winter doesn’t have a cover yet and I think I’m mostly excited for Fairest because it takes us one step closer to Winter. I’m secretly scared it will make us pity the Queen, because she’s so awful to everyone, I find it hard sometimes to see from their point of view because then I can’t quite give them the hate they are meant to receive. Yes that’s probably the point, but I don’t care. Also, Winter = Snow White. There are remarkably few retelling’s of this story and Once Upon A Time has given me a whole new appreciation for the Princess in the awful coloured dress (sorry, not a fan of yellow)

3 Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch

17399160

Unfortunately not a Snow White retelling, or, at least, not an obvious one. This Just sounds really good. Kingdoms and swords and women fighting alongside the men tend to mean epic stories.

4 Stitching Snow by R.C Lewis

16067008

Seems to be a Snow White story! Set in a futuristic time in space, it bares little resemblance to the original, but we shall see!

Serenity: Leaves on the Wind by Zack Whedon

21532236

At last! They’re slowly feeding us this story. For those who don’t know there was once an amazing TV series called Firefly, originally aired out of order, the show received little interest and was cancelled after the first series. Ah, but then came the ability to buy it and suddenly a cult following was formed! After much noise, a film was made to wrap up some of the bigger questions left to us from Firefly (such as “Is Mal really in love?” and “When the Gorram hell is Simon gonna pay attention?” as well as “The heck’s with River?”) This is the collective of the six-issue mini series, set after the film. Cant wait!!!

6 The Golden City by J. Kathleen Cheney

17707612

Start of a new sort of mermaid series, only with seers and spying as well as murder and mystery. What’s not to like? It sounds different enough to be thoroughly intriguing

7 Scarlet in the Snow by Sophie Masson

17448424 (1)

Yes, another fairy tale retelling. Shh. Based on the Russian version on Beauty and the Beast, it sounds a little different yet again. I’m massively curious as to how many ways these tales can be retold,

8 Roses by G. R Mannering

17596262

Yes yes, another Beauty and the Beast one. But this is far more different than the last. Beauty is mockingly called so. I think this sounds more vast than the other one and perhaps this is the one I’d read first.

9 All Fall Down by Christine Pope

16040333

Not a fairy Tale! Though does seem like it should be. (Honestly I don’t remember this one. Just re found it in my list and it sounded really good)

10 Into the Fire by Ashelyn Drake

17452685

This one also sounds pretty different to anything else on my shelves. The start of a series, I sometimes wait for a few more to come out first.
