I confess, these aren’t the mugs I made, because I was clever enough to forget to take a photo. They are far prettier than mine and are pictures I found on Google, but they say the same thing! Also, my bride was left-handed and so, therefore, was the mug.

I hadn’t originally planned on making this, I had been going to buy one, but I left it too late and so I improvised. I got myself some white mugs and some pens and got to it.

  

I searched Google for fonts to imitate and then I practised on paper. Once I was happy I then drew it onto the mug with a dry wipe marker and then went over it with a porcelain pen. I have an aga not a conventional oven so I left them to dry on top over night then I put them in what is called the ‘baking oven’, the second coolest for several hours (because I was frantically doing other things and forgot a little) but it was clearly fine as the pen survived the wash they were given after they had cooled. I wrapped them in tissue paper and gave them away!
