This sounds like a slightly less scary version of the future, because I have no doubt, as we are now, we’re going to tamper with ourselves for sure. But this sounds fascinating, despite the perhaps predictable sounding romance.

2The Midnight Queen

by Sylvia Izzo Hunter
Goodreads thought I’d like this one, which was nice of them. While the idea of women not being taught magic is somewhat insulting and a little annoying, it’s like a wobbly tooth, I want to poke at it and see what it’s like. Apart from that, the mystery of it all is rather attractive.

3 The Oversight

by Charlie Fletcher
Goodreads also thought I’d like this one. This one sounds far more interesting to me, sorry Midnight Queen, but that’s just the way it is. “When they fall, so do we all.”

4 The Burning Sky

by Sherry Thomas
I’ve just found this one, while searching for this list. While the romance seems predictable, the adventure is new and sounds like it could be rather exciting.

5 Stray

by Elissa Sussman
Just found this one too. The blurb is quite open and a little vague, just enough to attract the curious and I’m certainly one of those! I want to know of her world, I want to know why she believes what she does and most of all, I wont to know what she chooses.

6  The Miniaturist

by Jessie Burton

Winner of the Waterstones Book of the Year 2014, That’s basically why I’m interested to read this. I’m intrigued to see why it won.

7 The Bone Clocks

by David Mitchell

I have seen Cloud Atlas (I have yet to brave the complexity of the book) and I really enjoyed all the intertwining storylines. So I am hoping for more of the same in David Mitchell’s new novel. Sounds good anyway.

8 The Paying Guest

by Sarah Waters

I haven’t read any of Sarah Waters’ books yet but I like the sound of this one. All the goodreads friends that have read this have had very high praise for it.

9 The Rosie Project

by Graeme Simsion

I’ve seen this everywhere this year and have been dying to read it. It just sounds so awkwardly sweet. I hope I do get this one so I can find out why it was in the top 10 lists for so long!

10 Faking Normal

by Courtney C Stevens

I’ve had this on my to read shelf for a while and I keep being drawn back to it by that beautiful cover. I want to find out what secrets lie in Alexi’s past. It sounds so sad but mysterious at the same time.
