I’ve read two Romance Anthologies recently, this one (My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories) and Love Hurts edited by Malorie Blackman. I preferred this one in the end as I found the stories to be longer and have more substance. This may have also been because there was only 12 rather than 24 and they were full length short stories rather than excerpts from novels. I found it had to get into Love Hurts because you never had a finished ending before you began the next story.

As with Love Hurts, there were stories that I liked and stories that I didn’t but that just shows the variety that they included in this anthology. I was so happy to see authors such as Laini Taylor and  Stephanie Perkins and as usual they did not disappoint! I hadn’t read much by any of the others but I was surprised by how much I loved both Rainbow Rowell and Holly Black’s contributions and I’m definitely going to check out more by Kelly Link and Kiersten White.

Overall I found this to be a very lovely festive treat that was easy to pick up and read in those short moments of peace I managed to find between the chaotic mess that is my Christmas holiday.
