One Demon.

One Angel.

One Soul.

Josh lived a reckless, selfish life, so upon his death, escaping the eternal torments of Hell by assuming the role of a powerful, soul-corrupting demon is an easy choice. His first soul assignment doesn’t seem too hard: the mortal Camden is already obsessed with weapons, pain, and torture. If only Josh wasn’t distracted by Cam’s beautiful friend, Grace.

Grace never expected to die violently at age sixteen, but now she’s an Angel, responsible for saving a soul. She can already see past Camden’s earthly flaws, so the job should be be easy. If only that handsome, playboy Josh would stop getting in the way.

It’s forbidden for an Angel to be with a Demon, so if Josh and Grace stop resisting each other, the results would be disastrous.

And only one can claim Cam’s soul.

If you have been following my updates on Goodreads then you would know that I spent… well… 80% of this book really annoyed! I couldn’t understand how Good (The Angels) were ever supposed to win Cam’s Soul when a) Cam was a complete and utter psycho! and b) Grace was more interested in flirting with Josh and about pleasing herself. (There was a lot of me-me-me whining going on).

I think the main reason I ended up giving this 3 voodoos was because I was surprised that the ending made sense to me. I was expecting it to be just as annoying as the rest of the story with some clichéd Love Conquers All explanation but actually there was a little more thought put into it. I was really happy with the ending, and am now considering reading book two, based on that ending alone.

For this book to have been a four or a five I would have needed to see Grace putting in a little more effort into her side of the fight for Cam’s soul. She seemed to spend most of her time reporting back to Ms Alzarez (her mentor) and practising lines for the play (with Josh) or just WITH JOSH! If she’d tried to encourage Cam’s good side more… ie his innate talent for lighting and other technical things, and actually spent time in the evenings with him… keeping him away from Josh, then that may have appeased my feelings of irritation. It just seemed like a lot of the end result came down to sheer dumb luck.

This would be a good series for a younger audience.

Book 2 of Of Demons and Angels, Soul Obsessed, is released May 27th 2015.
