By accident I’ve chosen books that are all films. From that I’d say they have to be hyped to have been made into films!
1 The Hobbit/The Lord of The Rings
by J.R.R. Tolkien
I haven’t yet read these and I want to. I enjoyed listening to The Hobbit as a child, but when I came to read the book I didn’t get past the first page. I had hoped that this would be the summer I’d get to read them, since I own lovely copies, but having assigned myself the read it or lose it challenge this year I’ll have to put them off again.
2 The Fault in our Stars
by John Green
I’ve heard lots about this one and I know it’s a sad book. I don’t overly like sad books because, well, they’re sad. So I haven’t read this one and I don’t think I will. I probably won’t watch the film either for the same reason. This is by no means a reflection on the author, in fact I’ve read his Paper Towns and my review for that should be up this month.
3 Before I Go To Sleep
by S.J. Watson
I now own this film as well as the book so I need to decide if I want to read it first or watch it first. I think it sounds thoroughly fascinating as a story, memory loss and mystery! I think I’ve decided, I want to read the book first! Sorted.
4 The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
by Douglas Adams
I desperately want to read this, I’ve seen the film and my father has at least some of the series, (A trilogy in four parts, except there 6 of them). It’s one of those books I’m semi scared to read though, in case I think it’s going to be super duper fantastic and it’s only super fantastic, it will feel like it’s a disappointment. The longer I leave it, the worse it will be, I’m sure, but I cant help it!

I’ve gone for Hyped meaning talked about A-LOT rather than books over egged because I wanted to do a positive list this week and my selection is all books I own because of the positive reviews! Hopefully I’ll get enough encouragement from everyone to actually pick them up and read them!
6 Divergent

When I first joined Goodreads this book was EVERYWHERE! Everyone was saying how great it was and I thought, I have to read this. So I went out and bought book one. And I put it on the shelf all shiny and new… and there it has sat on my bookshelf every since. I’ve seen the film and really enjoyed it. Should I read the book?
7 Throne of Glass

Please don’t judge me! I know it’s terrible that I’ve been buying the whole series (as they come out) and yet still haven’t read them. I think I’m just scared of taking the first plunge now! What if I hate book one? And I’ve wasted all this money??? So many people have great things to say about this series but I’m scared! Please someone give me a little shove or just lead me away… either way…
8 Book Thief

I have this one on high recommendation. It’s won numerous awards, has been made into a film and has a rating of 4.35 on Goodreads from over 845,000 people! How can this book be anything but good? I bought this 3 years ago from a book sale, really should read this soon.
9 Tiger Lily

Ok this weeks TTT is actually scaring me now, how have I owned this since 2012? That seems ridiculous! Has it really been that long? I bought this because 2 of my favourite reviewers gave this so much praise and I new that I had to have it. Plus look at that cover! Gorgeous.
10 Graceling

And again, another book bought in 2012. I think Paein may have recommended this to me? I know she really enjoyed it. It has so many good reviews and still holds a 4.10 rating on Goodreads. I was put off when I heard the series didn’t continue to impress everyone. Opinions please, is it worth the risk?

@Paien I’ve been way too intimidated by the Hobbit/LOTR series to read them as well. I’m just scared that they aren’t going to be my sort of things… and what sort of reader doesn’t like LOTR? I wasn’t a fan of TFIOS myself so I cannot really encourage you pick that one up, but The Host is one of my favourites. Its a little cliched but it’s great in m opinion!
@Ms4tune I only read the Divergent trilogy last month so I know what it feels like to be behind… and I still haven’t picked up the Throne of Glass series! I don’t even have a good reason why. Both Tiger Lily and Graceling are really good, but I preferred Graceling.
My Top Ten.
Oooo exciting selections! Completely understand the reasoning behind TFioS, I sobbed buckets over both the book and the film. The writing for Hobbit and LoTR can be very slow and dense at times (it can also be awesome too) but I know that I was put off several times before I made it through them. And The Host, well… it’s ok? But nothing exciting to write home about.
NOW. Graceling is one of my favourite books. I mean seriously awesome. And then I thought I was going to hate the next book Fire, and ended up loving that one even more. I adore that series so much. They are brilliant and I cannot recommend them enough. Try them, do iiiittttt. Throne of Glass is addictive and you end up storming through them. I’ve just put Husband onto the first one and he is storming through it and I wasn’t sure if he’d like it or not. (Side note he also loved Graceling/Fire/Bitterblue, so if you like one chances are good you’ll like them all). Divergent is surprisingly good. I wasn’t as taken with the second and third books, but I loved the first one and read it in one sitting. The Book Thief is on my list this week too, I hate that I haven’t read it and I’m trying desperately to make time for it because I have a feeling it’s going to be a favourite.
