So it’s come to that time of year again when schools and colleges and universities are opening once more. Whether you’re a student or a staff member, there’s a certain amount of prep you need to do. Mostly it’s changing your mindset from whatever it is you’ve been doing over the holidays back to what you need to think about for the new term. And even if you’re not going back to school in any form, everyone needs some form of writing implement/notebook/memory stick, so why not make them pretty?! With Washi tape of course!

I had so many ideas and things on the go I thought I’d split it into two weeks. This week we’re going to make it pretty with washi tape. Next week will have more of a book theme.

washi

This pin is the one that started this, but I’ve seen so many pins and videos everywhere, but lets get started!

I made the pencils first! They were so easy. My washi tape wasn’t very wide, I had to do two strips from tip to end.

I left a little hanging over the end, then I cut it into strips so that it would fold over nice and neatly.

Next I covered a plain notebook. I chose 4 washi tape that came as a set therefore I knew they’d go together! I started with the longest strip first and continued outwards in both directions. I left the ends hanging over to fold in at the end.

Then I folded the inside ends inside and because I was only I covering the front, I then cut it off along the line of the spine to make it neat.

Once you have pencils and a notebook, you need a rubber! For mistakes and stuff

I covered the cardboard cover with one type of washi tape. That way you have a pretty rubber that still works as a rubber.

Lastly, a memory stick! Same M.O again.

I covered the front first, but in the end I pulled up the sides so that the top went over the edges so that at the end, the front strip covered the side parts as I did the same as I did with the pencils to get it to lie neatly. The back went over the top of that. I neatened the edges with a craft knife, because I had a weird memory stick that had sloping sides…

and there were are folks! a way to brighten up all the back to school (or even office) supplies!

Have you decorated things with washi tape before? What was it?

Do you have any ideas for a Make it Monday? Let us know!
