1 Bernard’s Watch

In the UK between 97 and 05 there was a children’s drama series on TV called Bernard’s Watch. It was a story of a young boy who was always late, until a postman gave him a “magic watch” which could stop and rewind time. The rules of him keeping his watch were that he must not use it to commit crimes or hurt anyone. I want one of these watches so that I can work on my 1000 to-read books – there’s no way I’m going to be able to read all the books I want to otherwise! Just a quick pause of time and then I can finish a book in a minute or two.

2 Nice Matching Covers

I don’t know about you, but it really gets on my nerves when  they republish a series half way through with different covers! Usually substandard too. Plus You get some weird arse covers on books sometimes too. I’m forever searching for a nice copy of the Narnia series or an original cover for my falling apart Nightworld series or even having to rebuy books so that they match the rest of the series being published with different covers. I’d like my books to match, to be pretty and to maybe even be impervious!

It’s the same book!!

3 Good Books

We all have books on our shelves we’re not sure we’ll like, or books that were never as good as we’d hoped they would be and sometimes FINDING a good book is just so hard. I’d love a magical filtering system that just picked out all the books I’d love and deposits them neatly on my shelves as soon as they’re available. (with nice matching covers that I can read while using Bernard’s watch…)

4 A Comfy Nook

I have a room with books in – there’s other stuff there too and it’d be nice to have a room just for books, but that’s not so important. I also have a chair I can sort of curl up in. What I’d like is a corner or a fort or a pool of duvets to be able to climb into and just flop out and read in.

5 Accurate book to live action Adaptions

Because generally they suck. You can’t always use the excuse ‘they had to cut SOMETHING out!” either, because they add in a load of irrelevant crap too. Sometimes the adaptions are better *coughhungergamescoughcoughbeastlycough* but usually they’re not. I’d love a properly made Harry Potter series. Or even some of my other favourite series made into live action adaptions. Of course, with these adaptions, the casting would need to be perfect too.

6 My Own Library

Basically I don’t want a huge building, I just want a dedicated room in my house, where all my books can live together. Away from dust and things that can damage them. Somewhere I can go and chill out in peace and ignore all the crappy life stuff for a couple of hours!

I’d love something like Aesta’s from Aestas Book Blog! (Here’s her facebook link go follow her, she’s awesome)

Look at that comfy chair and how warm and cosy it looks! That’s what I want… Thank you Mr Genie

7 A Copy of Winter by Marissa Meyer

This book… I feel like we’ve been waiting forever! I want it now! Please, thank you, please.

8 More Happy Hello Bookmarks

These are the cutest things I’ve ever seen. Every book should have them as cute little accessories! Paein was lovely enough to get me some but I want MORE! Harry Potter ones for example…or Supernatural! Or the Disney VILLAINS!!!!

Seriously… more, just MORE!

9 A Time Bubble

If my said future library could be placed in a Time Bubble. That would be awesome. I’d like to be able to read without thinking… “bugger I missed lunch again”… or “If I stop reading now, I could still get 4 hours sleep”…

10 Books with Magical Re-generational Skills

I love sharing my beloved books with others, because its no fun enjoying a book by yourself. Sometimes I can get away with reading most of a book out to The Husband just to have someone to talk to about it, but really I want to be able to give someone a book say, “You’ll love this” without the fear that when I get it back, it looks like this…

There is a very short list of people I will lend too currently because they have proven themselves worthy. But it’s not hard really, is it?… Don’t bend the spin… don’t crease the pages, DEFINITELY DO NOT PUT YOUR CUP DOWN ON IT! Gosh the stress of it all. So yes, if books could regenerate, like The Doctor, that would be great, Thanks.

Brilliant TTT! That chair looks SO good! I have a few similar wishes this week too. Love the Bernard’s Watch – that’s a great idea! x

  2. Broc's Bookcase (@BrocsBookcase)

Ok, so I put ‘a way to stop time’ as a wish on my list because I thought if I put Bernard’s Watch then no one would know what I was talking about, and then I come on your blog and that’s exactly what you have put! YEAY for Bernard’s Watch! Can we share please?
I need a nook too! Or a library! Or a nook within a library! Lots of comfy places to sit. I remember seeing Aestas post a picture of that chair on facebook a little while ago and was SO JEALOUS! I did some research into how much it would be to get one in the UK and let’s just say there was ALOT of numbers!
And lastly, I need a copy of Winter too!!!!! This wait is TORTURE! :(
Great list, I hope you find a genie soon and all your wishes come true! :)

Oh my god I really feel for you! People actually DO that to your books?! Seriously, it should be a crime :’(
On another note, I love your plan with Bernard’s Watch! I always used to dream of having one as a kid lol. Remember the episode when he thought he’d have to give it up when we moved? Time zones and all. Then it turned out he got another one! Aww!! Most memorable episode ever!
By the way, I’d love to visit your nook with soft cushions, plenty of awesome, specially selected books, and *hopefully* cookies too :3 please genie!

      Hi Amy,

Sorry I’ve been a bit MIA recently, life’s been a little hard. Thanks for stopping by. Sadly yes I have had quite a few books returned to me in disrepair. I don’t think any of it was done maliciously but still it’s upsetting and then trying to find the same publication to replace it can be a nightmare!

Haha there will always be cookies! Cookies and pretty coasters for drinks to go on :P

      Thanks for stopping by!!

Lmao sounds perfect! I know what you mean about books not being ruined intentionally though, but it’s still bad isn’t it? Like when they bend the spine right back, eugh! And don’t worry about being MIA! Happens to us all ;) x
