When a knee injury ends twenty-year-old Quinn Rowland’s pro tennis career, he’s not only dumped by his hot Russian girlfriend but ordered to attend college by his disinterested billionaire father. A rich kid who’s not used to being disappointed by life, Quinn and his sociopathic half-brother Sebastian create a frat house game intended to treat girls how they see them—as simple game pieces to be manipulated for their pleasure.

College sophomore Emilie Swanson knows Quinn’s reputation—after all, he did send one of her sorority sisters into therapy earlier in the semester—but the game and his charm bring them closer together and soon she starts to believe there’s more to Quinn than people think.

But what if the more is something darker than a game of toying with emotions and breaking hearts?

Quinn and Emilie might be falling for each other, but there are secrets he’s not ready to tell—and lifestyle changes he’s reluctant to make. She willingly stepped on the court, but if Emilie finds out she started out as nothing as a pawn in Quinn and Sebastian’s twisted game, she might never forgive him.

To his surprise, Quinn finds that he might finally care about someone more than he cares about himself…even if that means letting Emilie walk away for good.

Sometimes all you need is a hot and steamy romance and this book just ticked all the right boxes for me. Here’s my review that i wrote in April 2013. I’ve since read book 2 By Referral Only, my review can be found HERE, sadly I didn’t enjoy it as much but I’m still open to reading book 3.

I loved Broken at Love. Quinn is a damaged man after he injured his knee, ending his Tennis career and resulting in his hot Russian girlfriend dumping him. No one cares about him, especially not his billionaire father who sends him off to Whitman University to get him out of the way.

Broken and disappointed with life, Quinn and his half-brother Sebastian start a frat house game to use and abuse the rich kids that surround them. They pick a girl, any girl(Quinn doesn’t care) and set the party scene, when all bets are placed Quinn must woo, bed and manipulate the girl into believing she loves him. This games seems to easy for the drop-dead gorgeous Quinn, he can’t lose. Or can he…?

Emilie Swanson knows Quinn’s reputation, she’s seen what happens to girls that get involved with Quinn and she has no intention of letting Quinn get the opportunity to break her heart.

Gaahhh the Chemistry between the two characters is perfect! Every few chapters the POV changes so you really get to understand the characters, what they’re thinking and why they choose to do the things they do so I found myself so engaged with the story that I couldn’t put it down! I loved that Emilie was such a strong leading woman! She didn’t break down every other chapter, she didn’t whine and beg and crawl after Quinn, she stood her ground and I LOVED her for it. There was no sign of Insta-Love which was great cos I find quite a few of the New Adult books in this genre tend to skip the best bit, the build up…

Why then did I give it 4 stars? Well there was just something off with the ending. I personally felt that it could have finished 2-3 chapters before it did. It just felt dragged out for no reason. But that’s just me. Anyway, Bring on BOOK 2!!!
