“I could think of a hundred other things. There’s probably a John Wayne movie on somewhere that you haven’t seen.”

WHAT IF FOLLOWING HER HEART MEANS ROSE COULD LOSE HER BEST FRIEND FOREVER?
Lissa Dragomir is a Moroi princess: a mortal vampire with a rare gift for harnessing the earth’s magic. She must be protected at all times from Strigoi; the fiercest vampires – the ones who never die. The powerful blend of human and vampire blood that flows through Rose Hathaway, Lissa’s best friend, makes her a Dhampir. Rose is dedicated to a dangerous life of protecting Lissa from the Strigoi, who are hell-bent on making Lissa one of them.
Rose knows it is forbidden to love another guardian. Her best friend, Lissa – the last Dragomir princess – must always come first. Unfortunately, when it comes to gorgeous Dimitri Belikov, some rules are meant to be broken…
Then a strange darkness begins to grow in Rose’s mind, and ghostly shadows warn of a terrible evil drawing nearer to the Academy’s iron gates. The immortal undead are closing in, and they want vengeance for the lives Rose has stolen. In a heart-stopping battle to rival her worst nightmares, Rose will have to choose between life, love, and the two people who matter most… but will her choice mean that only one can survive?

My review for book two can be found HERE.

Well that was devastating. What happened there?!

In this book we discover that so far only 6 months have passed. It feels like it should have been upwards from a year. A LOT has happened to these guys and 6 months makes it a little more like insta-love that I’d first thought. Both the relationship between Rose and Dimitri and the one between Lissa and Christian seem to have been slow to build and full of depth, but perhaps this just just because time is passing so slowly in the books.

Pretty much these are my only two thoughts, nearly 24 hours after having finished the book….but then I’m a little low on sleep…so thanks Shadow Kiss…

But I won’t leave you hanging there.
This is book 3 and it has quite a major ending – almost like a pause. Or maybe I think that just to make myself feel better BECAUSE MY BOOK FOUR ISN’T HERE YET!!!! *sad face*.

The bond between Rose and Lissa is getting stronger and thank goodness for Adrian! I feel sorry for him. There’s a line towards the end of the book I can’t quote without spoiler warnings that just makes me so sad for him. Which is saying something because previously I thought he was rather annoying and kind of just a comic relief type character.

Finally, FINALLY, people started cottoning on to a bunch of things that I’d been seeing coming. And sure, they weren’t in Rose’s head like we are, but they’re meant to be super observant guardians. Or were they too busy assuming Rose was still being reckless and ignoring her changes? Cause that’s even more annoying.

And the sub plot thickens! Or is it the actual plot? Trips to court to see the Court and field training sessions as well as a surprise visitor or two.
I also know it also gets more convoluted later on too,  because I’ve read the blurbs of all the other books in the series and the first of the spin off series. Mainly because of how this book ends. See, I knew the blurb of the novella 6.5 before I read this one – I was checking the books that Richelle had written novellas in for the ones that fit in this series so that I could buy them with my steadily shrinking funds. They didn’t indicate by each book which series the novella’s in them belonged to on her website and I therefore had to read the blurbs to check, reasonable right? Well and so, but now I know that, how do we get from HERE to THERE?! I have ideas of course but holy heck.

I can’t decide if that ‘ruined’ it for me or if book two was just better at the whole thing. Possibly because I wasn’t expecting it? But anyway, please don’t do what I did, stay away from that novella blurb.
Also, Pinterest. Even if you do re-watch the film and decide you want pins. You WILL find book quotes and spoilers and you will read them. Well, I assume you will, you wont realise at first that they’re from books you haven’t read until it’s too late!!

And THIS is when Lissa is supposed to know about Rose-and-Dimitri and the world is suppose to know about Lissa. Stupid film.
