pamstopten

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish that other bloggers are welcome to join in, to create Top Ten lists on varying topics. This week it’s Top Ten 2015 Releases I Meant To Get To But Didn’t

six of crows The wrath and the Dawn after you a darker shade of magic Shadow study

1 Six of Crows

by Leigh Bardugo

I picked this up several times at the end of 2015, but I just never actually got around to reading it, I decided to get ahead with my review books. That didn’t really happen…

2 The Wrath and the Dawn

by Renee Ahdieh

I was gifted this for my birthday by Ms4Tune and I was determined to read it before the summer was over. Then I heard complaints about the end – I’m assuming where it finished because I remember thinking I’d wait till book 2 was out. So I’m waiting for book 2 to be out!

3 After You

by Jojo Moyes

I don’t like sad books, but I read the first of this series because we went to the book event for this. I didn’t continue on to this one because I thought that I couldn’t deal with it, but I possibly could and I’d like to read it before I get too far away from the original that I need to re-read. Sometimes something is lost in the re-read. But then, maybe I’ll wait until after the film

4 A Darker Shade of Magic

by V.E. Schwab

I was lent this by Ms4Tune and I need to get my act together and read it so I can return it!

5 Shadow Study

by Maria V Snyder

I was scared to read this one because what if it ends on a cliff hanger and there was no book 2 to hand?! But I’ll need to read it soon!

Ember in the Ashes Forsworn a court of thorns and roses fated buried giants

Ms4Tune

6 An Ember in the Ashes

by Sabaa Tahir

It seemed like everyone read this last year except me! I almost got round to reading it at the very end of 2015 but it wasn’t meant to be. I will read this this year! I swear!

7 Forsworn

by Emily Wibberley

Released June 2015.

I loved book one of Emily Wibberley’s debut series. I was so excited I pre-ordered the second book. But I never got round to reading it in amongst all the ARC’s I had.

8 A Court of Thorns and Roses

by Sarah J Maas

Released May 2015

This book was huge last year! And Yes the reviews we’re a mix bag but I still really wanted to read it. Some how it just didn’t happen. I have a copy of this though so perhaps sometime soon!

9 Fated

by Sarah Fine

Released September 2015

By now I’m sure people have gathered I’m a massive Sarah Fine fan. I want to read everything she writes! This is the 3rd novel in her Servants of Fate series. I even pre-ordered this one too! Hopefully, I can re-immerse myself in this fantasy world soon.

10 The Buried Giant

by Kazuo Ishiguro

Released March 2015

This had a beautiful cover and sounded amazing, kind of like a JRR Tolkien and I bought it one a trip to Waterstones Piccadilly but again I ran out of time. Fingers crossed this will get read this year.

Don’t worry Ms4Tune, you’re not the only one that didn’t read An Ember In The Ashes last year. I really meant to, I just didn’t get to it (hence the reason it’s on my list!). The Wrath & The Dawn is another I meant to read, but I like your plan Paein of waiting for book 2 to be out… now I feel less guilty about not reading it! ;D

Crini has mentioned that The Wrath and the Dawn is only a duology, so waiting for book two has become an even better idea! Clearly our plans from the start, right?
Personally, I think it’s terrible Ms4Tune didn’t read An Ember in the Ashes last year. It means I have to wait longer to borrow it :p

Excellent! Nice list! I’ve got Demon Road to read soon. I keep putting it off for some reason, I’ve never read any of his books before, but maybe I’ll bring it forward a little. Unfortunately I never finished Red Queen, hopefully you’ll enjoy it though.

Thanks! His books are really good (well the Skulduggery Pleasant ones are anyway), so hope you do read it. Oh really? Yeah hopefully I’ll enjoy it more than you do.

ALL THE YESES to A Darker Shade of Magic. Such a good book! My favorite in 2015 actually.

I’m waiting with reading The Wrath and the Dawn as well. As it’s only a duology, I would rather binge-read it when both books are out (I didn’t even know about the ending though, but I love binge-reading)

    1. Paein

I’ll move it further up my list then!
aww a duology? that’s brilliant! I like to binge-read too! Though I do have a bad habit of buying the whole series before I’ve actually determined if I like it…And sometimes when there’s a large amount of books in a series – like the Dark Hunter series, a rest can be good.

It’s receiving a lot of love in this post, haha, I’m thinking I’ll need to read it soon. I enjoyed both Winter and A Court of Thorns and Roses from your list and would recommend them!

  3. Kristen @ Metaphors and Moonlight

I enjoyed Marked by Sarah Fine, and I debated reading the second, but I just wasn’t interested enough in those particular characters. But the Last Oracle series looks interesting, and that’s such a pretty cover!

And I also need to read A Darker Shade of Magic. Or Vicious. Something V.E. Schwab lol. They sound like books I’d like, but I just haven’t gotten around to it either!

  4. Kate @ Parchment Girl

Great list! I’ve heard a lot of good things about Jojo Moyes Me Before You/After You, but haven’t had a chance to read them yet…though the movie version is coming out this year, so maybe I’ll watch that too!

It’s not a genre I usually read, but it’s also not the first/second Jojo Moyes book I’ve read either. I will just say, it’s sad, but I can’t wait for the film. Ms4Tune’s excitement drives my own…
I have to say I think yours is the first list I’ve seen that I haven’t seen any of the books on it before! I found that interesting. ( :

Ah, I know what you mean. A lot of people are talking about reducing their to-read piles this year and I’m so glad I’m not the only one with large piles of books everywhere. I wanted to read it when I got it, but there were deadlines to be met and it just got bushed aside ) :
Loved the Lunar Chronicles from your list! I hope you manage to get to them soon and that you enjoy them ( :
