Musing Mondays

pammusing
It’s time for Musing Mondays, a meme from Books and a Beat!

(Please note it has moved from A Daily Rhythm)

Musing Mondays is a weekly meme that asks you to choose one of the following prompts to answer and then supplies a random question:

  • I’m currently reading…
  • Up next I think I’ll read…
  • I bought the following book(s) in the past week…
  • I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
  • I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
  • I can’t wait to get a copy of…
  • I wish I could read ___, but…
  • I blogged about ____ this past week…

I bought the following books in the past week…

I tried to be good but on a small shopping trip with my mum I couldn’t resist these two pretties! A Crown for Cold Silver by Alex Marshall and All The Birds In The Sky by Charlie Jane Anders. I have no idea when I will get round to reading these but at least they will look good on my bookshelf!

THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: Which characters (from which book) do you think deserve their own spin-off story? Why?

Girl at Midnight

I read A Girl at Midnight by Melissa Grey last year and I’m eagerly awaiting the sequel The Shadow Hour, which is out in July! I would love for Caius’s best friend Dorian to have his own series! He’s so full of secrets and I’d love to see what’s going on in his head. He must have seen so much in his life.

The Girl at Midnight has such a pretty cover. A character that is full of secrets makes for a great story I’ll have to check it out!

Hi Danica, Dorian is adorable. I haven’t read City of Bones but others have compared him to Alec as he obviously loves Caius but never tells him. He’s covered in battle scares so you can imagine he would have a great back story. I know you’ve been reading Daughter of Smoke and Bone so maybe leave this one for a bit because there are quite a lot of similarities.

Hi Laurel-Rain, its such a cute fantasy. I’ve just popped over to your musing monday post and saw that you dont like stories that dont really hold their own, so perhaps this isnt for you because its very very similar to Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor and City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. I enjoyed it a lot but I know others that couldnt get over the similarities.

I really enjoyed it so I would recommend it to lovers of YA Fantasy’s. I hope you give it a try :)
