For almost five years, Alex has had one obsession. Her name is Elynn.

Alex Hanas couldn’t believe that after so many years as a widower, his father was getting remarried. To make matters worse, the American gold digger had a kid—a daughter named Elynn. After months of avoiding it, Alex goes to brunch with every intention of giving his father’s new family the deep freeze. But he can’t pull it off with Elynn’s anxious green-grey eyes locked on him.

That was the day his life changed.

Four years later, Alex is as close to Elynn as a stepbrother can be. But that’s not enough for him. He wants more…and he’s done waiting.

This would be perfect for fans of Fifty Shades of Grey! Making Her His is reminiscent of all those vintage Harlequin Romances, by which I mean, its naughty, its hot and its very easy to read.

Alex didn’t want anything to do with his Father’s new family, until he met his Step-Sister Elynn. Her quiet and distinctly different demure captivates Alex and he can’t help but want to get to know her. Alex is the classic Alpha Male. He’s strong, rich and has a ‘healthy’ sexual appetite. Alex has always been protective of Elynn but when he hears of her past he becomes even more so, he does everything he can to look after her. Even from himself. That is, until he sees her hugging another man outside a restaurant…

The romance was definitely hot. Who doesn’t enjoy the sexual encounters between a hot alpha male and a shy and reserved female? The majority of the story follows the development of the romance, but the first few chapters are dedicated to setting up the relationship prior to the attraction, and is spread over a number of years. At some points it was a little hard to gauge how old Elynn and Alex were but when the story actually started it is made clear that she was 21 and he was 30.

There was a strong possessive streak to Alex’s protectiveness that put me off in places. He seemed to think it was ok to control everything she did, including choosing all of her outfits. He didn’t seem to ask her what she wanted but told her all the time, which made it obvious that he was a guy used to getting his way. And boy did he get his way with Elynn!

The romance was built up perfectly and was exactly what I wanted. So why the low rating? Well I had one issue, but it was a big issue. There was a secondary storyline that was introduced at the very beginning (pre-the 4 years previously part – so 5-6 years earlier???). This was something I thought was going to make this book amazing! I expected an undercurrent of uneasy fear through out. Some shady figures out the corner of your eye, more significant mysterious correspondence… you know that sort of thing. And yet as the story went on, there were only little hints. The romance took over so much that I lost the trail of this other storyline and started to feel that perhaps I didn’t need to worry about it at all. It came as quite a surprise when it popped up all of a sudden, at the very end.

I did enjoy the romance, as there was great chemistry between the characters, but I guess I was just disappointed with the execution of this other storyline. I didn’t feel the build up and when it all kicked off it seemed to be completely over the top and even ended abruptly, with very little issue. Because of this I can’t give it any more than the 2 Stars.
