Musing Monday

pammusing
It’s time for Musing Mondays, a meme from Books and a Beat!

(Please note it has moved from A Daily Rhythm)

Musing Mondays is a weekly meme that asks you to choose one of the following prompts to answer and then supplies a random question:

  • I’m currently reading…
  • Up next I think I’ll read…
  • I bought the following book(s) in the past week…
  • I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
  • I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
  • I can’t wait to get a copy of…
  • I wish I could read ___, but…
  • I blogged about ____ this past week…
I’m super excited to tell you about …

my recent delivery from Prudence and the Crow!

So after seeing Paein’s amazing delivery from Prudence and the Crow I couldn’t stop myself from signing up for my birthday month. The idea of someone picking a book for me based on what I like and have read was really exciting. So I filled in the form and waited… rather impatiently… for my order to arrive. And I’m so happy!

Post
So this is the parcel I got in the post. So many pretty stickers!

Inside the parcel was another envelope. This one was even prettier!

And inside that envelope were these lovely things! In the green stripe bag was a postcard with a list of other recommend reads on it – all of which I will be checking out!
The little brown envelope had some assorted fruit teas, an old mint penny, some old stamps which were really cute and some sweets.
I loved the library card to accompany my book, stamped with this months date and also the name plate. I haven’t photographed these but perhaps in the future I’ll add them on Instagram.
And the Book? Well the book was hidden in a material bag so of course I had to open that to find…

A copy of The Hollow Hills by Mary Stewart! It’s gorgeous and I haven’t read it so I’m really happy. It’s a book about Arthurian legends which is totally my kind of thing. It is a sequel though…

But thankfully I have book one!!! And in the same set!!! How amazing is that? So happy with this subscription :)

So tell me.. What book subscriptions do you have?

THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: Name your least favorite plot device employed by way too many books that you actually enjoyed, otherwise.

I’ve had to really think about this one. There are so many clichéd plot devices that ruin a story for me but my most hated of these is the ‘Misinterpretation’ plot device or as other people may call it ‘STUPID CHARACTERS’. I hate it when the majority of a storyline is based on the main character not asking questions but just interpreting whatever has been said wrongly! Why do they never ask for clarification? So much time could be saved if they just asked!

november 9

I have just finished November 9, which I did really enjoy but I would have enjoyed it more if Fallon hadn’t kept jumping to conclusions and running away. How does that help in any way! TALK TO EACH OTHER! Please!! FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING!!!

I may have to sign up for that subscription box. Looks like you got a lot of cool trinkets to go along with your book! I also agree with your misinterpretation plot device. Especially in Nov 9th. Like the two of them only have 1 day to spend with one another. Precious time was wasted because the communication was not there.

I would definitely recommend it. I’m really up to date with new releases so its nice to have an old book recommended. You never know what gem you may discover! Plus I love a vintage cover :)

Fallon’s attitude was the only thing that ruined it for me, Ben was amazing!
