Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Bookworm Delights

pamstopten

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish that other bloggers are welcome to join in, to create Top Ten lists on varying topics. This week it’s Top Ten Bookworm Delights

Paein

1 Book Themed Items

LOVE THEM! Though getting proper RAVENCLAW items can be hard. Why did the films mess with us? They didn’t mess with the other houses. Our colours are blue and BONZE not silver and our representative animal is and EAGLE not a crow!! (slightly touchy topic there…)

2 Someone Loving a Book You Love Too

I get nervous about buying books for someone when they aren’t on their ‘want’ list, or recommending a book because what if they don’t love it as much as I do? Or even at all?! That just makes me feel terrible (just like hating a book someone recommends to me!) But when you both love a book it’s fantastic! You can analyse everything and possibly have things pointed out to you that you missed…

3 Reading

Not reading because you HAVE TO, because you need a review or you need to review a book by a certain time, just randomly selecting a book and settling down to read it. Because I don’t know about you, but I don’t seem to do this enough any more and I want to start doing it again.

4 Fancy Pages

You know, the posh ‘tatty’ effect that makes them seem old? I don’t know why but I love that, I think it looks so pretty on hardback books, it’s also usually done on slightly nicer paper too. I don’t like the glossy ‘new’ paper nearly as much as the matte ‘ye olde’ feel paper.

5 Book Shuffling

Basically, reorganising, but Ms4Tune wrote hers first! haha, but this one is fantastic enough to be on here twice. The re-organising of your shelves can be so exciting! How will I order them this time?! I’m still working mine out, but it seems to be mostly by type…

6. Textured Book Covers

I’m talking those velvety covers that some books have now I just love how they feel on my fingers. And when they have embossed or debossed bits… mmmmm…

7. Opening a New Book to find it’s a Signed Copy

I’ve done this a few times and OMG, I almost died! The best one so far had to be when I opened my second-hand hardback copy of Daughter of Smoke and Bone to find it was signed! EEEK.

8. A Matching Set

There is nothing more satisfying than collecting a series as you go and getting to the end and seeing them all with matching covers and spins, sitting proudly on your shelf. I so despise when publishers change a cover/spin design mid series. Why have you done that? JUST WHY?!!!

9. Reorganising All Your Books

I know, so ridiculously geeky but I dare you to say you don’t enjoy doing this! I’ve just bought some new bookcases and I’ve spent nearly 3 days organising and re-arranging each shelf. I couldn’t decided how to organise them at first… by colour? genre? alphabetically by author? by title? There are sooo many options. In the end I went for genre then colour and kept all my sets together… because I can :P What do you think of my shelfies???

10. Getting Acceptance Emails from Netgalley

I may have reviewed 101 books for Netgalley now, but there’s still nothing more exciting than looking at my emails and seeing a (1) next to my Netgalley inbox. Granted sometimes I’m disappointed by rejections or just junk mail but I feel this just increases my excitement when I do get an acceptance come through. Thank you all you lovely publishers and authors who continue to supply us with amazing new releases!

YES TO ALL OF THESE!!!! I think I could have made by post Top 50 today!
Paein – I love fancy pages too! It feels all the more special I think. Oh and I’m totally with you on number 3, I’m scaling back a bit on review copies at the moment so I can just read what my heart desires :D That’ll probably last about a week…we shall see!
Ms4Tune – textured book covers are gorgeous. I fully admit to having bought books just for their stunning covers. The matching set is a beautiful feeling too, but I’m totally with you on publishers changing the size / style of later books grrr! Love your shelfies, you’ve made me want to play with mine now ;D x

Hi Rhoda, You’re not alone in buying based on covers. (My mind goes instantly to Shatter Me… stupid disappointing book but oooh what a gorgeous cover…*sighs*)
Ha yes go and rearrange and please share your photos with us! We’d love to see. Although it may start an un-ending cycle of reorganisation lol.

      Thanks for stopping by!

Haha, I know what you mean, I’ve requested and been accepted, four books for review since I gave myself a ban on review books. I’ve been struggling with reading recently so I’ve not been reading the review books – but I seem to have some anxiety about having an empty list! so odd. How did your scaling back go? Now it’s almost two months later….

Aww thank you. I’m just happy to have them out of the boxes they’ve been in for the last 4 months!
