Review: Half Bad

by Sally Green

A breathtaking debut novel about one boy’s struggle for survival in a hidden society of witches.(Amazon.co.uk description)

 ’‘…I’m a Black Witch.’
‘No, you’re not. That’s your body, not you. The real you is nothing to do with being a Black Witch. You have some of Marcus’s genes in you, and some of Saba’s. But that’s physical. And the physical stuff, the genes, your Gift, they are not what makes a Black Witch. You have to believe that. It’s how you think and how you behave that shows who you are. You aren’t evil, Nathan. Nothing about you is evil. You will have a powerful Gift – we can all see that – but it’s how you use it that will show you to be good or bad.’’ P.114

“Behold, I come to you bereft of my father’s name and exiled from my mother’s hearth; therefore your name shall be mine and I shall be a daughter of your house; your Lares shall be mine and them I will honour; where you go, I go; where you die, I die and there, will I be buried.” - Page 35

Review: DOUBLE REVIEW! Sequels.

Deadly Thorns by Kathleen Peacock   and   Unhinged by A. G. Howard

Deadly Thorns   Unhinged

There is such a curse that comes with a sequel, especially a sequel to a mind-blowing masterpiece. How can you possibly top the first one? Jurassic Park made cinematic history… Jurassic Park 2?… not so much… as much as I hate to admit it… Twilight (the book or the film) AMAZING… New Moon… meh, not so much…

I have a feeling that 2014 is going to be the year of the sequels for me. So we may as well start with a bang!

I have two sequels to review, both of which had such hard acts to follow.
