Sum it up Sunday is a feature post we are going to trial for the closing Sundays of each month. In these posts we’ll detail various things that have excited or upset us over that month.
If you’d like to join us in our summing up, please feel free! Just please, provide a link back to our blog. Thank you.
What are you reading right now?
Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo
My third Red book! Hopefully finish it today or tomorrow (Seems like I’ve said this before?)
I’m just about to start Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce
What was your favourite book this month?
Oh no! All my books so far this month have been 5 Voodoos…I think perhaps I will go with Windwitch by Susan Dennard
While I ended up enjoying Pride and Prejudice far more than I thought and I’ve been searching for good variants to keep the story going, Windwitch was highly clever and I’m desperate for book 3!
Some Girls Are by Courtney Summers – I gave it 4 voodoos – such an emotional read
What was your least favourite book this month?
It’s a novella but it’s the only non 5 voodoo thing I’ve read so far, Lusus Naturae: A Lord Carlston Story by Alison Goodman (found HERE). I was excited about seeing his POV but there was a line or two in here that sort of put me off book 2 a little, because this is set at the start of book 1 and sentiments have changed but doubling back like that was weird.
Dane by Liliana Hart – I gave it 3 Voodoos
- the main problem was that it was just too short and so lacked the depth of character and plot that I would have liked.
What do you want to read next?
Caraval by Stephanie Garber, But we have two days left of Feb so it will be Blood Red Road by Moira Young.
Which apparently was a 2015 read it or loose it book. I didn’t read it OR loose it however, woops.
I’d really like to read Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers or You by Caroline Kepnes, but feel I should start on yellow books – maybe One by Sarah Crossan
What books are you hoping to collect next month?
A Crown of Wishes by Roshani Chokshi
How are your challenges going?
Colour Challenge: I’ve read two red book and I’m reading one now plus I hope to get a 4th one in!
Uppercase Reading Challenge: I’ve ticked off another 3 so 5/12! Never been so far in a challenge so early in the year!
Colour Challenge: I’d hoped for more – but currently I’m at 3 red books. I’m hoping to get another one in though.
Uppercase Reading Challenge: I’ve only managed one this week – A book on my TBR for more than a year – but hopefully if I can ead Sisters Red I can tick of A Retelling too.
Anything you’re going to try and do more of next month?
Reading. Always with the reading. I’m enjoying time to do other things, but I need a better balance. I have less yellow books than any other colour I think so I’ll read those and hopefully get some Netgalley/review books down too. So badly need to do that...AND A BOOK BOX BOOK!!
Again just read – I haven’t read as much as I’d like this month but it was only a short month so maybe next month I can catch up.
Did you complete this month’s targets?
I still haven’t read a book box book. I have some kind of fear. What if I don’t like them!?
I THINK I read more? I’m not sure though, it took so long to read Pride and Prejudice that it doesn’t seem like I did
Nope but as previously said it was only a short month.
Any rants or raves?
Anything to boast about?
My bookish Crate is going to be ending next month! (well mid April as next month’s box is shipping then to include an April book!) This is sad news! They have life commitments though.
Also I read my first classic and I didn’t hate it! (I was scared I would..)
Where do I find a Mr Darcy?? We can be socially awkward and bad at communicating together. Hehe
AND my wish was granted on Netgalley for Roar by Cora Carmack!
I am soooo over the moon because it was announced this week that the rights for A Darker Shade of Magic by VE Schwab has been bought by Sony and that Gerard Butler will be part of the production team. EEEKKKKK!
