Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.
It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
This weeks topic is Top Ten Books On Our TBR We’re Avoiding Reading and Why.

Annoyingly I’ve just read a whole collection of previously avoided books…
1 The Wicked King
by Holly Black
The main reason is because I’m waiting for The Queen of Nothing, but also, there’s so much hype about this it’s just everywhere – and the internet is so stupid these days, it just annoys me. It annoys me so much I can’t even express exactly what it is that annoys me…
2 City of Lost Souls
by Cassandra Clare
This is an epic world – that really has something wrong with it. I can’t put my finger on it, but something bugs me. I mean, I have about 95% of the books, but I’ve read about 25% of them. I’m also not so sure about Clare as a person, I have heard some things and I don’t know.
The other reason I’m putting it off is because of where we were left with the end of Fallen Angels.
3 Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany, Jack Thorne
Yeah, no. I mean, it’s not actually about what I thought it was about but it really isn’t cannon (no really…), and that’s it. It’s actually in an un-haul pile, but that still totally counts.
4 The Magician’s Apprentice / The Ambassador’s Mission
by Trudi Canavan
I loved this world, but neither book has Akkarin in!! I’m still sad about that. Why write a prequel and set it so far in the past?! Honestly.
5 Hero at the Fall
by Alwyn Hamilton
Honestly, I have no idea. I really enjoyed the first two books. Maybe it’s the title? There’s a fall….

I haven’t read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child yet either for the same reason.
My TTT.
I haven’t read The Cursed Child either and probably never will! I did enjoy the stage play though for the effects and stage magic. That was pretty cool.
Cassie Clare is, apparently, not a great person. Or at least, she wasn’t in the past. I know only some of the details and most of said details were from well over a decade ago. That being said, I definitely can see why the world isn’t for you 100% and you’re unsure why. I find that so many fantasy worlds feel that way to me, myself. Taste is so subjective and sometimes things just don’t work for us, and sometimes there’s no way of pinpointing it! Onto bigger and better things that suit us individually!
