It’s time for Musing Mondays, a meme from Books and a Beat!

(Please note it has moved from A Daily Rhythm)

Musing Mondays is a weekly meme that asks you to choose one of the following prompts to answer and then supplies a random question:

  • I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
  • I can’t wait to get a copy of…
  • I wish I could read ___, but…
  • I blogged about ____ this past week…

I went on a little spending spree this week. I keep telling myself it’s in the optimistic thought that we will have an amazingly sunny summer and I can spend my evenings outside on a deck chair reading. But so far it’s been pretty rainy :(

So I bought, This Savage Song by VE Schwab – I’ve loved all her books so far and can’t wait to start this one soon.
The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson – Heard so much about this one and when I saw it in the sale I thought… why not.
Summer Days and Summer Nights edited by Stephanie Perkins – I loved the last set of short stories Stephanie Perkins compiled so here’s hoping this is just as good!
Warrior Witch by Danielle L Jensen – I will be finishing this trilogy very soon!
The Last Star by Rick Yancey – I NEED to know how this ends!
Ruined by Amy Tintera – I’ve seen a lot of reviews that are hit and miss but I’m ultimately intrigued.

Have you bought any of these recently? Read any of them? If so let me know what you thought!

THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: What book have you wanted to read for a long time, but still haven’t??

I have so many books that I could mention here. I keep buying books and never reading them and I keep seeing books and meaning to buy them and read them… :( There is just not enough hours in the day.

The one I’ll mention today is Scarlet by Marissa Meyer.

I’ve chosen this one above all the others because it’s been on my goodreads TBR shelf since May 2012. I’ve read book one Cinder, and know I love this story, world and the writing and this series is now 4 books long with a handful of novellas to go with it. I’m not sure why I haven’t continued this series but I hopefully it won’t be another 4 years till I actually get round to reading this!

Have you read this series? Any encouragement to pick this up will be much appreciated!

I’ve read a handful of Victoria Schwab’s books, and This Savage Song does look interesting. And even though I haven’t finished the Lunar Chronicles series, I have read Scarlet. I really enjoyed the book.

Love the idea of sitting on the front porch in a deck chair reading. Here it did rain this morning- which is unusual for Colorado, it usually rains in the afternoon, a storm comes over the mountain. But mostly it’s clear and sunny and the porch calls. Enjoy yours.

Hi Elissa, Wow I’m so jealous! Your place sounds amazing! Mountains and rainstorms in the afternoon? It sounds so beautiful! I’d love a porch to sit out on. Best I have is a patio and its no where near as romantic as a porch but I do have some classic English Roses and they smell amazing this time of year. Do you have a porch swing, like in the movies? I’ve always wanted one of those. :)

Hope you get some porch reading time soon!
Happy Reading (from us here in the patchy sunshine) :P

Hi Breana! I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed Scarlet, I always worry that the second book isn’t going to be as good as the first! I’m hoping to read This Savage Song next week if I have time so I’ll let you know if it’s as good as Victoria Schwabs other books. I’ll pop over to you in a bit :)

    Happy Reading!
