Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Characters I’d Name A Child/Dog/Cat/Car/Etc After

pamstopten

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish that other bloggers are welcome to join in, to create Top Ten lists on varying topics. This week it’s Top Ten Characters I’d Name A Child/Dog/Cat/Car/Etc After

Paein

1 Alec/Magnus – Malec from The Mortal Instruments

by Cassandra Clare.

So, I know it’s the name of a SHIP but I really like it as a name in itself. I just like how it sounds. It’s also a fantastic way to name your child (etc) after more than one favourite character! I bet there’s going to be a whole rash of Malec’s now…

2 Edmond from The Chronicles of Narnia

by C.S.Lewis

I don’t know, I’ve always liked Ed’s name, he sort of got a raw deal in his first book, his siblings were pretty nasty to him so it’s no wonder he wanted to spite them, but later, he always seemed to have grown the most as a person. He was honourable and just and when they became children again he kept that new self and was far better for it (they all did in the books which is why they are better). Skandar Keynes played this all very well too! I would have LOVED a novella from the mothers POV over how her children had changed over their time in the country…

3 Acheron from The Dark Hunters

by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Acheron would have to be a pet I’m thinking, because the character had such a bad time of it, to have a child find out that their name came from there may be quite sad. “Acheron, named for the river of woe” Though, having said that, despite everything he is a pretty phenomenal being so perhaps they would take it as a compliment?

4 Rose from Vampire Academy

by Richelle Mead

Actually, I just like the name, I’m running out of ideas! but if I had a daughter and she was this sassy and kickarse, I’d deem my job well done! haha Maybe a little more self restraint though?

5 Padfoot from Harry Potter

by JK Rowling.

Oh wait, done that! haha, there was also a stray ginger tom that was running about for a while that I wanted to encourage our way and name Ronald, but our cat wasn’t having it. Plus when were were first donated our other cat Frankie, I was all for renaming him Snape, but I didn’t really put any effort in, which is a shame because he has the most fantastic old man sniff. There you’ll be, doing your thing and then someone will SNIFF disdainfully at you but it will just be the cat
I also really like the name Luna, possibly as a child’s name more than a pets.

6 Atlas from It Ends With Us

by Colleen Hoover

In It Ends With Us, Atlas is a strong, quiet but confident individual and I would love to name a big shaggy dog after him. I can image Atlas being the perfect name for a large floppy haired dog with a big heart but also a presence that makes me feel protected.

7 Jackaby from Jackaby

by William Ritter

Another awesome dog name! But this time for a small, bouncy and OTT dog. Like a Jack Russell. One that can make you laugh with all its silly antics.

8 Lila from A Darker Shade of Magic

by V E Schwab

Lila (or Delilah) is such a cute girls name which I’ve always kind of liked. But thanks to Lila from A Darker Shade of Magic I now associate it with someone with a bit of a spark and ingenuity just what you want in a daughter. Sadly I won’t be able to use it as it rhymes with my surname… Kind of a no no.

9 Ferran from Rend the Dark

by Mark Gelineau and Joe King

This name screams CAT to me. If I was ever to have a cat I think Ferran would be the perfect character to name them after. For me Ferran was protective, secretive, clever and fearless all things I associate with cats.

10 Inej from Six of Crows

by Leigh Bardugo

Another Cat name. Inej is the perfect assassin, known as the Wraith. She’s silent and deadly but thinks alot, quietly. I can image this as the perfect name for a black cat.
