Top Ten Tuesday: Books We Want to Read from the Goodreads Choice Awards 2018

pamstopten

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.
It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
This weeks topic is Top Ten Freebie

We’ve chosen: Books We Want to Read from the Goodreads Choice Awards 2018
The winners were revealed on the 4th of December and we’ve been eyeing these guys up!

circe the witch doesnt burn in this one children of blood and bone sky in the deep aru shah and the end of time

1 Circe

by Madeline Miller

Won the Best Fantasy Category

I have “The Song of Achilles” but I haven’t yet read it. Depending on how reading that goes, I’m interested in reading this too. I’ve been interested in it for a few months now, but to be honest it winning it’s category doesn’t really mean anything to me. My tastes vary from the popular as often as not it could go either way!

2 The Witch Doesn’t Burn in This One

by Amanda Lovelace

Won the Best Poetry Category

I…don’t actually like poetry. But this one sounds pretty good – even if it IS just the title. So many women were killed for ‘being witches’ it’s just nice to think that some weren’t.

3 Children of Blood and Bone

by Tomi Adeyemi

Won the Best Debut Author Category

I own this one and the only reason I haven’t read it yet is because the storyline was SO similar to one I had just DNF’d I couldn’t reasonably read it. I actually have the Behind The Pages perfumes of the main characters for this book, I’m so ready!

4 Sky in the Deep

by Adrienne Young

Came 15th in the Best Debut Author Category

I kept seeing this around and when I finally decided I NEEDED it, I could only get it from sellers, so I quickly bought it! And then promptly put it on my shelf….

5 Aru Shah and The End Of Time

by Roshani Chokshi

Came 4th in the Best Middle Grade & Children’s Catergory

I love her work and I am interested in different Mythology so I’m really looking forward to reading this one too!

great alone Spinning Silver sadie Skyward the serpent's secret

6 The Great Alone

by Kristin Hannah

Won the Best Historical Fiction Category

I actually own this one and can’t believe I still haven’t read it! I haven’t read The Nightingale either… which is embarrassing. I definitely need to rectify that!
Anyway, as I said I’ve bought it, so I obviously like the sound of this one, it just makes it even more appealing when so many other people say they’ve already enjoyed it.

7 Spinning Silver

by Naomi Novik

Came 3rd in the Best Fantasy Category

I adored Uprooted so fingers crossed I will also love this one. I do enjoy a retelling of a classic fairytale.
If nothing else I need to own it for the cover. Whoever’s in charge of designing Novik’s book jackets is awesome!

8 Sadie

by Courtney Summers

Came 2nd in the Best Young Adult Fiction Category

I have a feeling this one is probably going to destroy me but I can’t help but WANT to read it! It sounds fantastic.

9 Skyward

by Brendon Sanderson

Came 16th in the Best Young Adult Fantasy & Science Fiction Category

I’ve read other books by Brendon Sanderson so I know I will enjoy the writing but I have a feeling this one could be special.
Alien invasions? Spaceships? Yes please!

10 The Serpent’s Secret

by Sayantani DasGupta

Came 15th in the Best Middle Grade & Children’s Catergory

I’d not heard about this one at all until it appeared in the Goodreads Choice Awards. It sounds really exciting, the only thing that worries me is the mention of ‘two crush-worthy princes’ – I’m not a big fan of love triangles but the rest of it sounds fun so I will probably look this one up at some point.
