Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.
It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
This weeks topic is Top Ten Rainy Day Reads
Paein
Um, I don’t think I get this prompt, but I’ll go with books I think might be enhanced by rainy weather.
1 No One Home
by Tim Weaver
This is a book Netgalley just sent me an email about, but it sounds like something that a rainy atmosphere would just add to!
It’s not my usual kind of book, but I really need to know what happened!
I’ve since learnt that this is a book 10 – but never mind. Also further blurbs aren’t as exciting, but I still want to know!
2 Hunter
by Mercedes Lackey
Honestly, I don’t really remember much about Hunter, but from what I do remember, I think a good downpour will ratchet up the suspense!
3 Thunderhead
by Neal Shusterman
Yes, this is a book 2 (read book 1 first!) but I think the rain would greatly add to this book.
4 Stalking Jack the Ripper
by Kerri Maniscalco
Rain and dingy London streets on the hunt for a killer?
Yes please!
5 Roar
by Cora Carmack
A book about controlling magical storms seems like a good choice for a rainy day read too!
Just be careful, book 2 isn’t out yet…

6 Norse Mythology
It’s spring and so I’m trying to get the garden into some sort of order but in typical British fashion its ‘April Showering’. I love to have something like this collection of short stories to read while I’m sheltering from the down pour. They’re easy to pick up and put down but in true Neil Gaiman style are still engaging.
7 Reservoir 13
When it’s really pouring down the windows and its all murky outside, I like to read something atmospheric. Something like this Reservoir 13 novel. This novel is definitely improved with a dark and stormy sky.
8 The Diviners
Another atmospheric book. I loved reading this over the winter months, when it was dark and wet and miserable. It really heightened the creep factor of the book.
9 Song of the Current
I would love to read this while on holiday on the canal boat. I think it would really add to the lifestyle. But obviously it needs to be raining because otherwise I’d be outside opening and closing locks!
10 The Obsession
I definitely get drawn to mystery, crime and thriller style books when its raining. I think it’s because you get a better feeling of isolation when your enveloped in a curtain of rain and that really ramps up the feelings of anxiety and tension.
I’m on a super long library waitlist for Stalking Jack the Ripper. Can’t wait to read it!
My TTT.
I haven’t read any of these but Song Of The Current, Thunderhead and Stalking Jack The Ripper are all on my TBR.

I bet Stalking Jack the Ripper would be a great book on a rainy day! Probably Thunderhead too (I need to read that series). I haven’t read either yet though.
