pamstopten

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish that other bloggers are welcome to join in, to create Top Ten lists on varying topics. Broke and Bookish are having a break until the 15th August so we’ve come up with some of our own!  This week it’s Top Ten Ten books whose Titles or covers made us buy them.

1 Leather Bound Classics

sense and sensibility pride and prejudice persuasion

I was desperate for this edition of Pride and Prejudice before I’d even read it. I have now read it – but it’s the only one and I own all three! I also have a few others in my collection and I’m looking to expand it. I REALLY covet the Narnia one but to get my hands on that it looks like I’ll have to fork out a few hundred pounds so that’s a long term investment…….

2 special editions, Cassandra Clare

the mortal instruments lady midnight lord of shadows

I haven’t even finished the first series but I’m already collecting special editions of the third! I also have the pretty covers of the first but I don’t intend reading them. What will I do if I don’t like them? Keep them of course! But only this eight….
Having said that, Magnus Bane is in these, how could I not like them?!

3 Bloodlines by Richelle Mead

bloodlines the golden lily the indigo spell the fiery heart silver shadows

I wanted these as hardbacks because they were so pretty and I’d really enjoyed the first series! Some of these cost rather a lot to get good condition copies. So I have to keep them/ give them to a bookish person I like!

4 Fool’s Assassin by Robin Hobb

fools assassin

My copy is all pretty shimmery gold! I couldn’t say no…

5 Caraval by  Stephanie Garber

caraval

I haven’t read this yet, but I want all the covers! I managed to keep my collection to two…one that I received in my Fairyloot box and the Tescos special  limited UK edition – not pictured here. Getting the limited edition even before I’ve read it just makes sense!

The Bone Witch

6 The Bone Witch

by  Rin Chupeco

This debut novel caught my eye on Netgalley because, well look at it, its gorgeous. I don’t think I even read the blurb I just saw that cover and saw the title The Bone Witch and knew I had to have it. I’m currently reading this so I will let you know whether its worthy of the cover, but so far the writing is beautiful, the story a little slow, but I’m not that far into it yet so there’s still time for it to pick up.

song of the current

7 The Song of the Current

by Sarah Tolcser

Although the cover for this book is pretty it was more the title that made me pick this one up. It just sounded so poetic. I have read this one and can say that the cover is perfect for this book. I really enjoyed it and hope to have a review up soon to let you know why you should be reading this!

Cuckoo Song

8 Cuckoo Song

by Frances Hardinge

I bought this when it popped up on my Amazon recommendations list. I had no idea what it was about but the cover was hauntingly enticing. I have since read one of Frances Hardinge’s other books The Lie Tree and loved it so much that I’m actually really excited to get round to this one now! She has a wonderful writing style and creates the most amazingly creepy scenes.

Golem and Djinni

9 The Golem and the Djinni

by Helene Wecker

Ermmm Hello?! Who doesn’t get excited when they see a title that have Golem’s and Djinni’s in it! I certainly couldn’t resist. Still haven’t read it but it looks pretty on my book case.

and i darken Now I Rise

10 The Conqueror’s Saga

by Kiersten White

And I Darken was one of my favourite books of 2016 and to think I may not have read it at all if it hadn’t been for that awesome cover. I love the cover for Now I Rise just as much. Its dark and mysterious with a hint of something a bit murderous about it. I can’t wait to read Now I Rise and find out what happens next.

Oh gosh yes, leatherbound classics do know how to flirt with you to get you to buy them. I suppose publishers feel classics need a little extra appeal. ;)

yes! and I guess we also accept it better from classics. Almost like they’re MEANT to be all fancy and proper on our shelves too
