Sum It Up Sunday – March 2017

pamsumitup

Sum it up Sunday is a feature post we are going to trial for the closing Sundays of each month. In these posts we’ll detail various things that have excited or upset us over that month.
If you’d like to join us in our summing up, please feel free! Just please, provide a link back to our blog. Thank you.

What are you reading right now?

Paein:
Don’t telly anyone, but I’m still reading Scythe by Neal Shusterman. Hoping to finish it today and I’m still putting in in my March books, dammat!

Ms4Tune:
The One by Sarah Crossan
I’ve had this one a while as an ARC and as it won some high awards last year (Carnege Award 2016 for example) I thought I really must read this now.

One

What was your favourite book this month?

Paein:
Timekeeper by Tara Sim! Ok, so it’s the only book I’ve ACTUALLY read this month, but it was really interesting and sweet.
Working on the review….

timeKeeper

Ms4Tune:
Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
I really loved this fluffy romance.

Lola

What was your least favourite book this month?

Paein:
By default, asI’m counting Scythe, it will have to be that – as it’s my only other book

scythe

Ms4Tune:
Dark Matter by Blake Crouch
Although I thought this was a clever concept I didn’t find the audio that engaging. It took me 2 months to listen too because I found it so easy to walk away from it. Perhaps I would have found reading it more immersive…

Dark Matter

What do you want to read next?

Paein:
I don’t have many green books, I really need to work on my review books too, but I think Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell will be next

fangirl

Ms4Tune:
The Scarecrow Queen by Melinda Salisbury
I wasn’t able to fit this one in this month but I’m going to sneakily squeeze it in before I start the my Green collection for April.

What books are you hoping to collect next month?

Paein:
A Crown of Wishes by Roshani Chokshi is hopefully on it’s way to me right now!!
And it’s green!
Wait. Was this on my list last month? Why don’t I Have it?

a crown of wishes

Ms4Tune:
I don’t have anything on order this month because… It’s my Birthday!!
But if I were to buy something next month I would definitely be tempted by
Hunted by Meagan Spooner and Gem and Dixie by Sara Zarr

How are your challenges going?

Paein:
Colour Challenge: I’ve only just managed to scrape 2 yellows in. OR one and a half if you’re technically. And yes, TimeKeeper counts – the font is yellow! It’s in the rules.
Uppercase Reading Challenge: If a book box book counts as a recommendation then yes!!!

Ms4Tune:
Colour Challenge: I only managed 2 yellow books this month.

Lola When you were mine
Uppercase Reading Challenge: Only 1 this month – A Retelling
When You Were Mine by Rebecca Serle – which is an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet.

Anything you’re going to try and do more of next month?

Paein:
Definitely read. This month involved a lot of crochet which meant I fell into the Netflix Marvel trap. BUT I’m nearly done so hopefully there will be reading time again.
Also to get my reviews up faster…I read timekeeper ages ago and it’s not made it out of the note book…

Ms4Tune:
Again just read. I’m really struggling at the moment.

Did you complete this month’s targets?

Paein:
YES!!!! I’m currently reading a book box book! FINALLY!!!!

Ms4Tune:
I don’t want to be pessimistic so I will say yes, because I’m keeping up with my Goodreads Reading Challenge 2017

Any rants or raves?
Anything to boast about?

Paein:
I’m being followed by some of my favourite authors on Instagram!! That’s pretty exciting, even if I don’t quite get Instagram…

Ms4Tune:
Very happy with the book I got in my Fairyloot box this month.
You’ll have to wait for our Book Stuff Sunday though to find out what that book is :P
