Make It Monday: Boxes

Well, it’s more of an edit than a make, but still they look pretty damn good even if I do say so myself!

So, basically I had these three pink cardboard boxes I no longer liked, they were sun faded and honestly a rather terrible shade. So I stripped the outer layer off of them all (this took several months and tweezers as the whole of the outer layer didn’t come off in one, it left half of itself behind.) so that when I covered them the lids would still fit. Unfortunately I have lost my ‘before’ and ‘during photos’, all I have is part of a box in the background of another picture:

Once each box was free of as much of the top cover as I could manage I then shredded some awful books (this was distressing at first! awful stuff), but not any old awful books, ones that should have been good. Snow White and the Huntsman (not as good as the film and that’s saying something) Beauty (a sort of meh Beauty and the Beast retelling) The Bride Princess (Honestly, just watch the film) and I added another box to the set and this has Red Riding Hood on it. (the book based of the film that has Amanda Seyfried in it, the book didn’t even have the ending in it, that had to be read online!!!!!!) I chose these books because they were stories I loved and therefore books I should of liked, but didn’t so I decided to turn them into boxes I’d love!

The big one is Snow White, the middle one is Beauty and the Beast and the top one is The Princess Bride.

Each book had a title page or a key phrase that I kept to decorate it with. Some, I printed off key quotes to add to the decoration. I used PVA glue to stick the paper down and seal it in. once it was covered I used the bits I’d saved to make them look good then I covered it all in glue that had coffee added to add the aged look to my boxes.

To be honest, I’m not sure if I want to do anything else or if I want to leave them as is. I was working from this picture I found on pinterest and they look all fancy and decorated. Original link is embedded in the picture.
