Can you guess where I got this one from? You guessed it! Original blog link can be found here:

I got quite excited about this one, but I don’t know that I truly succeeded. I attempted three colours a bunch of times and only managed to get the one to work. First I tried the pale pink with the beet powder, but I don’t think the amount of shea butter was right so I tried it again, however I think my beet powder is too grainy as it didn’t mix well, feel nice or even give a colour. So I tried it was blackberry powder. This time it mixed better but there were pips…and I don’t think that it was smooth enough either. I got a pale pink, but there were spotty bits in in. I think I will try again with both the beet powder and the blackberry powder, once I’ve smashed them to death in a pestle and mortar….

The first time I made the cocoa powder one, it also didn’t work. it sort of clumped and I decided it was too much shea butter.

So I did it again and added a smaller amount of the shea butter…

Then I added more cocoa powder until I had a workable colour and texture. I ended up with enough to fill two tiny pots and I’ve even gone out with it on my eyes!

I do tend to like my brown eye-shadows a little darker however, so this is a pin to perhaps experiment with a little more, so if I get any other colours to work, I’ll update you! Have you tried making your own eye shadows? Did it work? How did you do it?
